Old pillows

You could put brightly coloured covers on them, join some of them up and use them for the GCs to sit on,on the floor.

Cover them with canvas covers and use them in the garden.

Put them in the bin.

When I worked in a care home, we often washed polyester-filled pillows in the washing machine.
After drying, one pillow seemed a bit lumpy so a worker unpicked a seam to straighten out the filling.
She found it was quite damp in the middle and we realised that pillows we had been returning to the residents' beds must have been similarly damp.

If you've got a dog/cat rescue anywhere near, they might like to have them.
A few years ago we took some really old duvets to a Dogs' Trust place - they were pleased to have them, and I'm pretty sure we included some old pillows, too.

If you cant 'repurpose' them the civic amenity centre has an area for old duvets and pillows. Not sure if they get recycled.

When we moved recently I got rid of most pillows. Tried to wash a few but not successful. Disposed of several old duvets too.
I took them to the waste disposal place/tip, can't remember which bin.
We bought some new ones, not too expensive.

Give them to an animal shelter for dog/cat beds
I made H a kneeler for the garden by stuffing two pillows into an old pillow case.

After a couple of years pillow stuffing includes a large proportion of human skin flakes and other less pleasant things like bed mites.

After 5 -6 years use, burn them or tip them.

Charity shops will not use pillows but they will take old cushions. I cannot understand that one.

My vet surgery will take pillows and old towels and duvets for the cats and dogs.

Ours went in the municipal skip!

We sometimes sell cushions on our antique stall. I always change the cushion pads and write it on the price label.

Pillows should be changed regularly, given hiw much we use them I like to buy new ones about every three years and bin the old ones.

I recently bought new cushions for the living room. The old ones are not fit for reusing so I'd like to put them in the bin. Trouble is, the brown bin is only collected fortnightly so there isn't room for 6 cushions. Maybe I could do 2 at a time but that could take weeks . I suppose I'll have to take them to the tip but how would someone without a car manage?

It's a big problem where I live. Three black bags once a fortnight has led to a huge increase in fly tipping in beauty spots.

Yes, the vet's or the RSPCA Dogs' Home (unless they are feathers as the dogs may shred them!).

Old duvets and towels are welcome too I think.
