Daylight robbery indeed! My 92 years old cousin, a bright and sparkly lady, asked me if I thought it was right she was paying £200 per quarter for her telephone line. She phones her two equally elderly neighbours for five minutes max, to check they're still in the land of the living but that's about all. No broadband, just the landline.

After goggling in astonishment, on her behalf, I gave em a call. Her bill is down to £66 per quarter. She was 'on the wrong tariff'.

It makes you so angry!

The reason I left BT ...I had unlimited WiFi but didn’t realise it was unlimited up to a certain amount ( madness eh) I left

I phoned BT yesterday to question why my direct debit had risen by £25 a month and was told it was because I had made more calls one month than usual (£5 worth at the most) and my broadband had gone up by £2 a month. After an involved conversation with a lovely lad who simply didn't seem to understand the bill any more than I did, he quoted me a new direct debit amount less than my original one! We eventually agreed on an amount I was happy with because there was no point me running up a debit amount, but for the first time I'm now intending to start shopping for a better deal. And I'm a BT pensioner!

It is daylight robbery. So many of the tariff deals are impossible to understand; it doesn't make sense at all. Sorry not very helpful.

We upgraded our times membership when they were doing a special offer for new readers.
We got a better deal than we had and £50 to spend at the National Trust.
