Aggie and Maw I have had a taste of what life is like on my own for these last two weeks and it has not been good.
My H comes home on Tuesday and I am in part looking forward and part dreading it.
We are never happy. If my H was able to be a normal part of my life, oh how I would look forward but dealing with his problems is filling me with foreboding.
How I feel for you both who don't have the option or opportunity.
My sincerest best wishes to you both and courage to you both in coping.

Maw one of those days , kind of hard to keep the bright side out all the time , my right hand lass (eldestDD) and her OH are away in the caravan for a week and I don't think I moved off the sofa all day till about 7 pm when I had a spurt of self pity that took me out to the garden , I planted yet more Nasturtiums tied up some sweetpea and then staggered back to the sofa with a cup of Camomile tea . Gardening is hard but helps me . I can't drive or I would be out and away

Hurrah for Hattie and (Hugs) for Hattie's mummy. What would the world be like without our furry/fluffy friends to be with. ?

Strawberry flan made ready for visitors tomorrow. Not sure my two cats appreciate elder DD bringing her new puppy round to visit, but we enjoy seeing him.
Had fun looking at prams etc with younger DD lots of ideas. Brought wool for 1st baby jacket knitting. Love knitting small things.
Early thunder and rain gone now, but left it feeling cold here.

Hattie has been a life saver today. After the DDs SIL, and DGCs had left today I felt very low as I had been looking at possible gravestones- I have to get round to it some time- anyway I decided I needed a lie down so went to bed.
I woke up an hour later but absolutely could not lift my head off the pillow.
Without Hattie I would probably been there for the next 12 hours but knowing she hadn’t had a walk I forced myself downstairs and an hour and a nice walk later, feel part of the human race again.

Evening All. It’s been a grey, chilly day. Mostly catchup with boring things. Sigh..........

The kittens are safe from us kitty, Mr C is allergic to cats. The puddings are another matter, any spare?

Blowing a gale again here, the roses have finally given up their battle and admitted defeat.

Nothing much happening so I’m off to put my feet up, soon be time for a glass of chilled white.

You've obviously been busy doing all manner of cooking in readiness for the visitors. Please don't tell me which puddings you've made. Apart from kitten-napping I would want to join you at the table.

The storm appears to have blown itself further along the coast. Friends of ours are on a mini cruise. They are hoping to be able to visit St Kilda early next week. The sea needs to be a lot calmer than it is today.

Last night the sky was interesting. The lull after the storm.

Any tea going, or even anything stronger, just to fortify me before Seb and Hattie arrive.

I've baked and made puddings for tomorrow and am now girding my loins. This will be a difficult visit as the cat had 3 kittens last night and they are expecting to pick them up for cuddles.

I'm glad things are moving along Charley and that Tara is being accommodating . And that you are eating more. We had steak last night - I really must try it with toast next time!!

mcem, it sounds as though you are being well looked after. It is really difficult to try to do too much isn't it. I met a friend last week whose DH had just had a hernia repair and she kept saying that she shouldn't stay long or he would do something silly like moving if she wasn't there to stop him.

I was sad to hear about the Glasgow School of Art too. I love Rennie Mackintosh and one of my favourite places is the whole world is Hill House. It is so peaceful and beautiful - for me it is akin to being in a Cathedral.

I've a jumbo size pad of high quality watercolour paper that is begging to be used. Such very sad news of the tragic fire raging through the Glasgow School of Art (for the second time.)
We visited it before the first fire. I was awe-struck by its beauty. I wished that I could have studied in such a remarkable building.

My sympathies charley. I'm finding I can potter around achieving minor tasks but feeling pleased with myself then suddenly collapse in a heap.
I've been lucky that DD1 and DGD have a shift system which involves watching me like a hawk keeping me company and feeding me really well.
Apparently we have to be patient but it's damn hard!

Having spent a day doing zilch I am absolutely exhausted so I will be joining Tara in bed for a really early night yet again. She never objects.

We've done our duty. Visited the care home and had a decent chat with our pal. One of the care nurses is going back to Edinburgh tomorrow. He's such a lovely, happy, helpful man. Sad that he's needed elsewhere.
Then to visit our friend's mother in hospital. She was confused, and apart from sorting out her locker and gathering up items for laundering, she seemed too weary for company. The air ambulance/helicopter landed in the field adjacent to the hospital. The coast guard vehicle was also present. Someone who was in need of urgent assistance was about to be attended to.

The weather is improving. We've had a couple of short, sharp showers but the sky is brighter and it is less windy.

I shall pop in again tomorrow. (((HUGS))) for all who need one for whatever reason.

To all of my nagging friends- I had an early lunch of half a sirloin steak within 2 slices of toast- yummy. I only hope that there will be a bit more room for a "proper" meal this evening.

Good afternoon, kitcheners. Just back from an hour trawling up and down the swimming pool. This apparently is set to become our regular Friday routine. I may have to leave home, as I hate it, even if (even though) it is good for me!

N&G That is a splendid hat. I may have to negotiate a swap with my Tilley if Jackson is amenable - I’ll even throw in my badge! Please don’t tell me he is a Fortnite devotee. GS and his school mates are all into game, which has a huge following. His father keeps a careful eye on things though as there is potential to run amok with in app purchases.

Maybelle That is exactly what happened to friends of ours. Failed to conceive with every expensive intervention, gave up on the idea, and then produced two splendid boys one after the other. Mother Nature is fickle indeed.

Maw do be kind to yourself - there will be joy to temper the loss, but it is still a hard path to tread. Glad you enjoyed your theatre trip.

Grin and bear it, Charley. Good friends are hard to come by and must be nurtured. She is merely nurturing you! Maybe she needs to practice a bit, though!

Galen that made me smile! I thought I had a football team too. On the subject of names, my current nickname for GS is Achilles, whom I believe Homer described with the word ‘xanthe’ or golden. It fits his appearance perfectly, but fortunately he doesn’t have that hero’s temperament to go with it - he’s not a sulker, but we haven’t hit the terrible teens yet! We have the pleasure of his company for the next two nights, as his parents have a theatre trip, and tommorrow a night run with their running club (goodness knows what pleasure they get from that!).

Well, I will look in later. I bought some lily plants yesterday and now the weather has calmed down a bit, I will need to find something to put them in.

My eldest was called Beetle while I was expecting. Mainly because I reckoned he’d at least six legs!

Maw You, lovely lady, are NOT a moaning anything. You are one of us lot. Whatever makes you smile or weep, is perfectly natural, and we understand.

I've to get myself suitably attired to go visiting/shopping/treat at the Royal. I may not be able to return to the kitchen today.

Good morning dear Granspal Kitcheners. The wind has become less of a menace. The garden has had a good watering. We'll be going to visit the care home and a friend who is in hospital today.

I've a coffee and will read as many messages as I possibly can.

Super photos. Maw and anno you both look amazing. The peonies caught my eye, corner they are one of my favourite garden flowers. They remind me of my late Nana. Beautiful, happy boys. Thank you N&G it seems ages since we last had a photo of them wearing their grins.

N&G poor Sam, I did not realise that the little man dribbled. So sorry.

A so called friend rang me yesterday evening and thoroughly ruined it with her stupid questioning. Am I using crutches to get around the house?= no. Your frame= no= a stick- no I can manage without. WHAT! came back at me. I told a few porkies- she does not have to know the truth. I could not use crutches because I could not carry anything and she knows that perfectly well.

I am going for physio next week on Tuesday- how long for? I have no idea- I have not been there yet. And so they continued. No wonder Tara came home later- she appeared the minute I put down the phone- the vibes must have reached her.

The questioning occurs on a weekly basis- it does not matter if I am watching anything on TV- it is rubbish unless my so called friend from the age of 11 deems otherwise. She would depress a saint but deep inside she has a kind side to her.
