Royal wedding obsession!

Like the previous posters friends, I loved the sermon.
I liked it because it was different for a Royal Wedding.
My partner, a West Indian said lots of Carribean Churches have that kind if sermon.
He was passionate and I loved his energy.
The choir was also good, again different for this type of occasion. I think all in all one of the best Royal weddings I have seen.

Rather unfortunate when the priest talked of ‘the first time you fall in love ‘ to a woman in her second wedding

Many people fall in love more than once.

So what! There is always a first time to fall in love. I love my partner dearly, but I loved another before him, sadly things happen in life, and life moves on.

Yes, so better if he had said ‘when you fall in love’ not ‘the first time you fall in love’

I don't care if he said 1st or not.It did not distract from his passion or what he said.

Ok ,my impressions from someone not a royalist.
The bride looked absolutely beautiful, but a divorced woman should not wear white and a veil.
The dress was a triumph, the bridesmaids and pages were hardly seen and whisked away to play or whatever.
The couple looked very very happy and in love, so nice to see.
Zara and Mike ? Also looked very happy together and also in love with each other.
The York girls didn't impress at all.
The Queen didn't crack a smile.
Meghans mother looked so alone, surely she could have had a "plus one".
Than goodness David Beckham was never knighted, those tattoos are hideous, has his wife had her expression frozen?
The weather was perfect and I sincerely wish the couple well, we shall see.
Haven't changed my mind that George is either sulky or very shy, unlike his sister who I'd going to be a real character.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte are just like my grandchildren. Boy who seems to prefer to be out of the limelight, extrovert younger girl. My grandson is older than George, but looks very like him.

Give the lad a break! He is only 5 or 6 .

Not surprised to hear that the Queen didn't crack a smile - must have been distracted by the sound of her mother, Wallis Simpson and Princess Margaret spinning in their graves!

So old world though to think a divorced woman can’t wear whatever colour dress she wants How many first time brides wearing white are virgins ??? not too many methinks

I don’t think being a traditionalist is ‘so old world’ , but I wouldn’t would I ? ?

I have no objections to people who have been married before wearing white.

I too loved the orange dress. Those 4 women are actresses from 'Suits'
And again, my first thought on princess Ann's outfit was that she was wearing a dressing gown

What colour dress would you have liked to have seen her in, annesixty. I think she actually looked very serene. Not sure it was pure white, probably a pale cream or off white? She looked lovely, I think. I wonder how many brides are virgins these days anyway? Some will be but not all.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought Princess Anne was wearing a dressing gown ( or old fashioned smoking jacket) she has no dress sense or poor advisers ?

i think the whole veil, virginity white thing has had its day. It doesnt appeal to me in a lady who has been married. I also find it a bit odd when people do the whole white wedding thing and have their kids as bridesmaids/pageboys.

i think bea and eug had been instructed to reign it in a bit.

I thought Prince Charles came out of it rather well. He took good care of Meghan and of her mother too. It was touching.

I wasn't expecting to watch the event as it was arranged a long time ago that my teenage Goddaughters would be spending the day with me. As it happens they wanted to watch it before we went to lunch and so we found ourselves joining the millions of others who turned on the TV and spent an hour as vicarious wedding guests.
I surprised myself by really enjoying the whole spectacle and most especially the address by Bishop Michael Curry. He preached on the same passage as I had at my wedding and my minister was also American, so it had real resonance for me - and at only fourteen minutes was half the length of our sermon too!

I think I said how lovely she looked and I do realise very few brides are virgins these day if any.
I was referring to the fact that she had been previously married and was divorced.
This used to be a barrier to marrying in church.
I am pleased this is no longer the case for the innocent party but marrying in white with a veil is still a step too far for me, but then I am an ancient 80 year old with old fashioned ideas.

She stage managed it very well didn't she. No adult bridesmaids for her. She wasn't going to have the papers filled with photos of someone else's arse.
A professional through and through it was her day.
