A few weeks ago I stopped getting the daily emails from Gransnet for no apparent reason. The Tech. team were very helpful & have done their best & it did come back for one day but nothing since & I know they have tried a lot of other options.
I wondered if anyone would be prepared to forward the emails to me so I can continue to enjoy these mails. It became a ritual for a large cup of coffee & read the Gransnet mail every morning & I miss them! I would be very grateful if anyone would be prepared to do this for me. I feel out of touch!
If anyone would do this I will send my email address.
Fingers crossed.

You're not alone, PollyP. It seems to take some people ages to find and click on the 'Acronyms' button so they are not aware what all the initials mean. Mind you, the list does need updating with the newer ones.

Well my phone is an android not an iphone so it wasnt quite as you described but after a bit of searching and clicking I did find something saying add to home screen so it's there now. Thanks! I've no idea why it's taken me 3 years to discover this- I thought everyone just went in via emails!!!!

Pollyperkins if you are on an iPhone this is what to do it’s really really simple just a couple of clicks to have it there for ever
1. open up gransnet
2. go to the top of your screen and click on the square with an arrow icon
3. scroll along the bottom row of icons till you come to a plus sign that says ‘add to home screen’
4. click on it ......DONE
Now it’s always there on your home screen to click onto for an instant opening
Let’s me know how you get on x

I'd love to be able to click in but can't work out how to do it -I mostly look on my phone. I certainly don't google it every day ,-I just open the emails which is easy and takes you straight to the site.

I've only just joined and am getting the emails. I'm happy to read that clicking on them will bring me here, as I detest having to do the sign in ritual of email and password every time. It puts me off. Thanks to everyone for their input here, it's been informative.

I’ve never had these emails either. Should I feel neglected?

Actually, I wouldn’t want them as I tend to use my iPad (it has a better internet connection) and just click on the saved GN icon set to bring me straight to the Active Forums page. It’s in Favourites on my old ‘Puter. I delete most daily emails without reading anyway - Cotton Traders for example!

Are you sure this person hasn't been banned and that is why they are not contacted any longer!!!! wink wink smile

I have the link to GN in my favourites, so just click on that.

BlueBelle Tue 01-May-18 22:54:43

I don’t understand why you need an daily email you just look on active and see exactly what threads there are if you click on last hour you just get the most recent threads so why would you need to read an email to know what’s going on
Why on earth do you need to google gn Pollyperkins why don’t you just have the gransnet open to you at a click like everyone else I m sure no one else Google’s it every day ???

PS My favourite part of the old weekly newsletter was "post of the week" usually humorous, and sometimes when read out of context, so to speak, hilarious!

phoenix Tue 01-May-18 22:40:49

In the "old days" (i.e. when GN was new) there used to be a weekly newsletter, with a bit of a round up on what had been happening on the forums, top threads/topics etc.

That was discontinued (can't remember when) and replaced with daily emails. I for one unsubscribed from that option.

While this topic has been raised, I wonder how many members would be in favour of a return to the weekly newsletter, which did actually work in bringing attention to some threads/posts which might otherwise have been overlooked?

I feel that as many of us get bombarded with so many emails on what seems to be a daily basis (Cotton Traders, you stand accused!) a weekly GN sort of "round up" newsletter might be a better option than the current daily thing that so many seem to have unsubscribed to?

GNHQ, are you there?

pollyperkins Tue 01-May-18 22:23:16

Actually i am wron g about the password -just tried. Yes I can find it by googling but its much quicker to read the email.

Charleygirl Tue 01-May-18 21:48:50

I am like BlueBelle- I also do not have a clue- I have never heard of them.

Poppyred Tue 01-May-18 21:12:53

Never had one? ??

BlueBelle Tue 01-May-18 18:34:36

I never have to put a password in Pollyperkins I am always already ‘in’ just click on gransnet and off we go

BlueBelle Tue 01-May-18 18:32:04

I ve never had a newsletter email what are they ? Whats different to just looking at the forum and seeing what you want to read or join in with

pollyperkins Tue 01-May-18 18:27:47

Well I'm the opposite. I have always had the emails since I joined and didn't know there was any other way of accessing GN. When I found out I did try but found it impossible to put the icon on my desktop ( if that's the right teminology.) So I would have to google it and put in a password each time. Emails are much easier and they come every couple of days.
When mine stopped once I contacted GN HQ and they told me how to fix it and it's been fine since.

henetha Tue 01-May-18 14:51:42

I still get them every day. But as Alima has already offered I'll not interfere.

OldMeg Tue 01-May-18 13:51:22

What emails?

midgey Tue 01-May-18 13:23:23

Even more odd I started getting them! I have now turned them off successfully.

Maggiemaybe Tue 01-May-18 12:58:03

How odd, craftycat. I stopped getting the emails as well a while back and it took the techies a few months to get them flowing again. I do like them as they flag up new competitions and the book club giveaway. I didn’t win a single book club book over the time I was incommunicado, though that may have been a coincidence.

Craftycat Tue 01-May-18 12:37:29

Thank you Alima- I'll PM you.

mcem Tue 01-May-18 12:31:17

I cancelled mine too. They said nothing that wasn't available on the site.

Bellanonna Tue 01-May-18 11:55:55

I’ve never had an email from GN confused

Alima Tue 01-May-18 11:54:11

I can forward them to you Cc. No problem, I know what it is like when one’s routine is shot to pieces!
