I love this poem - they have just read it on Radio 3 and reminded me how good it is. Someone sent it to me when I was recovering from surgery.

Sometimes - Sheenagh Pugh

Sometimes things don't go, after all,
from bad to worse. Some years, muscadel
faces down frost; green thrives; the crops don't fail,
sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.

A people sometimes will step back from war;
elect an honest man, decide they care
enough, that they can't leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.

Sometimes our best efforts do not go
amiss, sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen: may it happen for you.

Thanks for that, luckygirl just what’s needed to remind me, after what’s seemed like an endless winter, that spring is coming again and, despite all I see and hear to the contrary, the world still can be a good place to be. x

A good reminder, Luckygirl not to be so morose. Shelley wrote:
"If winter comes, can spring be far behind?"

I went to a cafe today and saw a gorgeous little baby boy in his pram smiling at his mum and her friend chatting away.
His smiles were truly wonderful and I could not stop smiling too.

I just read the poem "Sometimes" and I thought it was very inspirational. I liked the bit about a field of sorrow. Even though everything is going well for me at the moment, I know things can change on a sixpence. It is something to live by to be sure
