It’s spring and we expect fickle weather but this is sheer bloody-mindedness! They’ve been promising a heatwave for at least a week and it’s STILL cold, grey and windy.
I’m wearing two jumpers and have the heat on. It has only been turned off on three days since last October. Gas and electricity have gone up but surely we’ve all used record amounts.
I used to never feel the cold but now I’m never warm. I feel so sorry for the baby birds and lambs and the farmers who can’t turn their livestock out.
I blame Theresa May. It’s all her fault.

I had to put some sun screen on to sit out in the garden it’s stunning and the forecast is hotter tomorrow and similar till Monday. Think I’ll get the BBQ ready ?

Saw a funny quote on Facebook which went
“I can’t wait for summer, I just hope it falls on a weekend”
About sums it up

Blue skies, sunshine and warmth here on the Isle of Wight, but being near the sea we rarely get the high temperatures that some places do. Let's hope it lasts longer than a day or two.

Phew what a scorcher! I was at Ham House in Richmond today gorgeous gardens loads of people sunbathing on the riverbank , got a summer dress out of the far reaches of the wardrobe yeah!!!

Oh dear I’m so sorry for you all ,...I’m in middle of country(Bedford) and we’ve had a absolutely brilliant sunshiny day...I’ve walked 6 miles today and I’ve sweat buckets. And it’s gonna be 26’ tomorrow. Sorry you’re all suffering.

Beautifully warm and sunny up north. Delightful sight of newly washed winter bedding wafting in the breeze. Does it for me every time.

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Apr-18 20:10:38

Absolutely lovely in Devon today and about 21C

Yes, at last, a warm sunny day!
Did I mow the lawn, weed the garden or get the puppy house-trained? No, I was looking after a little grandchild, home from school with D and V and she won’t be allowed back for the rest of the week.
I blame Theresa May for that too.

Yesss - the day started as grey as ever, we needed the central heating. By 3 the sun was coming out and at 5pm we were sitting in the garden with a glass of proseco (we've got something to celebrate)

hildajenniJ Wed 18-Apr-18 21:04:23

Well, it did improve, and by evening we had 16°c. Too late to really enjoy it though. Walking in the garden after sunset I discovered that the bats have returned to my roof. ??

I've just read your post watermeadow after a glorious day when I've had to raid my summer wardrobe to get dressed! What a difference a day makes!!!

Apparently it was warm all day yesterday but I did not leave the house until 7pm and was surprised to find it was still 20 degrees, shame I missed the day.

Anniebach Thu 19-Apr-18 09:06:19

It didn't rain in .Mid Wales yesterday , not a drop. And sunshine today , bliss ,I can even see the mountains , thought they had been moved

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 19-Apr-18 09:25:49

I have to say that when I first read this I was in agreement - but yesterday afternoon it got so warm that I switched off the heating and even took my vest off!
We often get 'false starts' at this time of year, don't we? You don't know if you're coming or going or indeed, what to wear.

BBbevan Thu 19-Apr-18 09:27:45

SW Wales beautiful warm day yesterday. Derek even mentioned us on the news Anniebach. Looks good today so have got my shorts on !!!

Sat outside in cotton pj's to eat breakfast this morning. Slathered on the factor 30. Here in Essex Summer has arrived.

Sheilasue Thu 19-Apr-18 10:30:03

April 18 was lovely and today the 19th is so warm. We live in the SE. Have taken my thirst out of the suitcase and put them in my drawer in case it lingers on fingers crossed.

henetha Thu 19-Apr-18 11:26:27

Yes, Jalima1108, what a gorgeous day here in Devon yesterday. And again this morning. I hope it lasts until November {smile}

henetha Thu 19-Apr-18 11:26:43

smile

hildajenniJ Thu 19-Apr-18 14:21:23

Much better today. I've got the patio door open. The sky is blue, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and all is beautiful. I've put my favourite summer top on with a pair of denim jeggings, and I'm not cold.

SaraC Thu 19-Apr-18 14:44:09

Stinking hot (and humid) at 34 degrees here, though a couple of thunderstorms this evening have cooled things down a wee bit. Hoping for the Dry and some cooler, less humid, weather soon ...

Situpstraight Thu 19-Apr-18 16:15:21

I have switched the heating to OFF!
?

However I can and will turn it back on if necessary.

Blinko Thu 19-Apr-18 16:17:34

Hello, I guess this must be Summer.... Wonder how long it will last.

Situpstraight Thu 19-Apr-18 16:21:37

We are due to get Thunder and Lightening on Saturday, so, as this is probably our Summer, im making the most of it!
