It’s spring and we expect fickle weather but this is sheer bloody-mindedness! They’ve been promising a heatwave for at least a week and it’s STILL cold, grey and windy.
I’m wearing two jumpers and have the heat on. It has only been turned off on three days since last October. Gas and electricity have gone up but surely we’ve all used record amounts.
I used to never feel the cold but now I’m never warm. I feel so sorry for the baby birds and lambs and the farmers who can’t turn their livestock out.
I blame Theresa May. It’s all her fault.

I have to say that when I first read this I was in agreement - but yesterday afternoon it got so warm that I switched off the heating and even took my vest off!
We often get 'false starts' at this time of year, don't we? You don't know if you're coming or going or indeed, what to wear.

It didn't rain in .Mid Wales yesterday , not a drop. And sunshine today , bliss ,I can even see the mountains , thought they had been moved

harrigran Thu 19-Apr-18 08:22:46

Apparently it was warm all day yesterday but I did not leave the house until 7pm and was surprised to find it was still 20 degrees, shame I missed the day.

I've just read your post watermeadow after a glorious day when I've had to raid my summer wardrobe to get dressed! What a difference a day makes!!!

hildajenniJ Wed 18-Apr-18 21:04:23

Well, it did improve, and by evening we had 16°c. Too late to really enjoy it though. Walking in the garden after sunset I discovered that the bats have returned to my roof. ??

Iam64 Wed 18-Apr-18 20:46:56

Yesss - the day started as grey as ever, we needed the central heating. By 3 the sun was coming out and at 5pm we were sitting in the garden with a glass of proseco (we've got something to celebrate)

watermeadow Wed 18-Apr-18 20:16:33

Yes, at last, a warm sunny day!
Did I mow the lawn, weed the garden or get the puppy house-trained? No, I was looking after a little grandchild, home from school with D and V and she won’t be allowed back for the rest of the week.
I blame Theresa May for that too.

Absolutely lovely in Devon today and about 21C

Kim19 Wed 18-Apr-18 19:37:50

Beautifully warm and sunny up north. Delightful sight of newly washed winter bedding wafting in the breeze. Does it for me every time.

Saggi Wed 18-Apr-18 19:34:48

Oh dear I’m so sorry for you all ,...I’m in middle of country(Bedford) and we’ve had a absolutely brilliant sunshiny day...I’ve walked 6 miles today and I’ve sweat buckets. And it’s gonna be 26’ tomorrow. Sorry you’re all suffering.

Gerispringer Wed 18-Apr-18 18:49:54

Phew what a scorcher! I was at Ham House in Richmond today gorgeous gardens loads of people sunbathing on the riverbank , got a summer dress out of the far reaches of the wardrobe yeah!!!

Blue skies, sunshine and warmth here on the Isle of Wight, but being near the sea we rarely get the high temperatures that some places do. Let's hope it lasts longer than a day or two.

Saw a funny quote on Facebook which went
“I can’t wait for summer, I just hope it falls on a weekend”
About sums it up

tanith Wed 18-Apr-18 16:56:13

I had to put some sun screen on to sit out in the garden it’s stunning and the forecast is hotter tomorrow and similar till Monday. Think I’ll get the BBQ ready ?

David1968 Wed 18-Apr-18 16:53:33

Woo-hoo! Lovely in Lancashire!

SueDoku Wed 18-Apr-18 16:42:47

Well, at least I've dried one load of washing on the line (first of the year) but it was very cloudy and grey here (Worcestershire) until about 1pm - and I've worn a fleece all day and been glad of it, as the promised warm weather hasn't arrived... sad
My friend, who lives about 12 miles from me, has been sitting in her garden basking in the sunshine for most of the day..! Ah, the good old British summer - every season in one day...!!! ?

Greciangirl Wed 18-Apr-18 16:06:53

First day sitting out in my garden today.
Glorious sunshine. Also first day out without a coat and scarf on.

quizqueen Wed 18-Apr-18 16:06:26

To the first two posters, I'm very surprised you didn't blame Trump or Putin or Brexit for the bad weather....Those three usually seem to get the blame for everything!

It's lovely down in the New Forest today and I have just mowed my lawns for the first time this year. I have had the heating on a lot this winter though as I have been housebound a lot recovering from a knee replacement so I'm dreading how much in arrears I will be with my energy bills.

TwiceAsNice Wed 18-Apr-18 15:56:57

Just got home from work a few minutes ago. It's beautiful here in Surrey although I work in West Sussex, it was beautiful there too. Wore shoes without socks today and if it continues tomorrow ( no work) the sandals will be out . Can't wait!

cavewoman Wed 18-Apr-18 15:48:24

Sunburned arms here in on East Essex coast blush

luzdoh Wed 18-Apr-18 15:39:50

watermeadow Yes,Theresa May and Brexit. The weather would go back to normal without them.

MaryXYX Wed 18-Apr-18 15:20:43

Hmm ... the heatwave arrived this morning.

Growing0ldDisgracefully Wed 18-Apr-18 15:02:33

Really warm here today in Bristol though we have had the heating on in the evenings. Just about to depart to Devon where we have a caravan. Looking forward to sitting in the awning, listening to the birds, doing some lacemaking and enjoying a glass of wine! Bottoms up! ?

meandashy Wed 18-Apr-18 13:26:22

I haven't been out today (nor am I going to) but I have it on good authority that it's a bit blowy again today up here! (Scotland). Yesterday started overcast but by the time afternoon came I was melting. No change there for me.... menopause is not my friend ?
