Focussing on one thing at a time is not my forte. I will always take the opportunity to stop for a coffee, have a long leisurely phone call and so on in the middle of a job, and then not get back to it for several days. This got me into trouble recently so I made a resolution to finish a job before I take a break. Starting this Monday.
On Tuesday, I decide to give the bathroom a good clean, DS and family had been staying and it was a mess. DH went out to get the papers. When he came back I was stuck in to the cleaning and he came to the bottom of the stairs and said, I thought, 'I've got the papers and I have put the kettle on' (I did have the radio on). Virtuously, I replied that I would come down when the job was done, which took another 10 minutes.
Having completed the job, I turned the radio off and was about to go downstairs clutching all the cleaning materials when I heard two voices downstairs. I put all the cleaning materials back in the bathroom and went downstairs and there was the rep from a conservatory company, who I had forgotten was coming. He and DH were sat there awaiting my appearance. DH having told him I would be down when I had finished cleaning the bathroom!
.
As may imagine when the rep had gone, I asked DH quite why it hadn't occurred to him that perhaps I hadn't heard his first message correctly, as I had the radio on, it has happened before, and why he had to give the rep real reason I was delayed. He couldn't see the problem.
I have decided to revert to type and continue to be easily distracted.
