I love WhatsAp...brilliant for sending photographs and free as well. YouTube...if I need to know how to do anything I look on there. Slime is my next look up...looks wonderful stuff. Have to say how to empty the toilet cassette on my narrow boat was an eye opener. Would not have known where to start without it. Now before I go an look up Minecraft I need to know if it is addictive? I play a couple of games on Facebook....relaxing

Honestly, she comes out of school, can't remember anything she's done all day, but can name every single on of these blinking dolls, their sisters, their pets, what "club" they're in, etc.

This is all down to you-flipping-tube!

Things I have learned from You tube include how to change a duvet cover with almost no hassle, and how to microwave a swede.... lol!

When I find a new name (or an acronym) online in an article which implies that everyone knows, I ask my 20something daughter 'Should I recognise ....'. My 2yr granddaughter is no help at all, unless it's a Peppa Pig character, and I know all of them.

GD set up WhatsApp on my phone, when she was eleven, so that she could send me pictures of her drawings and nice pussy cats she met on her walk home from school

DGS1 loves WWE & knows all the main wrestlers & different contests, all goes over my head. I can however talk football with him for hours. He's 8, never heard him mention Minecraft. I use Messenger to "talk" to DD all the time, more convenient than telephone calls. Don't use WhatsApp or YouTube.

I'm sure as DGSs (DGS2 is only 10 months old) get older they will introduce me to lots of new things

I use YouTube to watch Dave Allen shows.

My grandson did something on my phone so that Siri now calls me your ladyship.

Mmost of ne are quite young still so Ive been tols anout the Night Garden too and Peppa pig and also the song from the gilm Froxen which was a must a couple of years ago. At the moment my 7 yr old gs is telling me about the football results (previously it was makes of cars) neither of which Im very interested in.

I do use YouTube if I want to
know how to mend something, WhatsApp for communication with friends and family if we’re not getting together and my record player for music.

I've been banned from playing Minecraft. My DGS (8) asked me to play a 2-player game with him. I took over his Dad's avatar and started wandering about the 'forest'. After a while it got dark. DGS gave my avatar a flaming torch so I could see where I was going. Unfortunately I set fire to the forest, his house and barbecued a pig and several chickens.

The thing I love most is being taught new activities by my grandchildren. I love the way they look when they explain something to me and how patient they’ve become. I’m always delighted when I get the hang of something quickly & try hard to recall the names of all the characters in their games...

I think that it’s very good for us adults to be patronised by children as it happens so often the other way round. I find it amusing when they praise me if I do well at something, especially as I work so hard at being interested! I dread getting things totally wrong though as they seem so disappointed in me.

When my DGS was very small he used to say "Good boy, Nanna" when I got something right.

I’m almost too ashamed to admit this. We’ve had our car for 8 years. Never been able to open the sunroof and I thought it had been welded shut by the previous owner. Today our 13 year old grandson found a button to push and it opened ... with a swish .....

I didn't know what a 'dab' was! My preschool room told me!

Taking our two GD aged 7 and 6 for the day we went into a little cafe for some lunch.
Firstly the 6yr old announced "I like coming here. I can have the things Mummy won't let me have!"
Horrified and imagining we had given them something Mummy didn't want them to eat I asked what that was - salt and vinegar (on her chips)!
Phew!
A short while later Granddad said "Can you pass the salt?"
A little voice piped up ...
"Pass the salt PLEASE Granddad - manners!"
I could hear my DIL's voice saying that!
Out of the mouth of a child!
Granddad had a lesson in good manners!

OldMeg. Had to have a chuckle at the drive thru McDonalds as we’ve just taken our two GDs for their first one tonight. Told them you have to catch it as they throw it through the window and it was just luck if you got someone else order? They believed it. Was such simple fun.
