Is it possible?

Having read yet another hoo-ha in the media about someone with non-pc opinions I can’t help wondering if the push to make us all equal and insist we share the same views and opinions realistic?

I’ve noticed that over the years while the government has been introducing legislation to protect everyone’s feelings and big business has been busy trying to make us feel global that people have been pushing back. There is a lot of regionalism now, not just here but abroad, so it seems many don’t want to be part of something big after all. I’m glad there is more legal equality but you can’t change people’s thinking by passing laws so is it realistic to expect people to hold onto their personal thoughts if they aren’t what we want to hear? It’s a tricky one - I want people to be able to say what’s on their mind but not to incite hatred. I want us to live side by side in peace but I don’t want to lose my identity through a melting pot effect. Is suppressing difference a realistic approach to harmony or is there a better way?
