I ordered a polo shirt from Landsend in October, intending it to be a Xmas present. So far (about six months later) the delivery date has been put forward no less than twelve times. Is this a record?

It is JL policy to refund if they drop their price within 30 days .

gmelon Thu 05-Apr-18 16:16:31

Ha ha . If only.
John Lewis are brilliant at returned goods too should your purchased husband mulfunction.

Goodness, gmelon, I just read that as saying that you had bought a husband. I know John Lewis is pretty good, but that is even better than I thought. grin

nandalot Snap. I bought husband I pad from John Lewis.
I didn't think to check if the price went down though sad.
Very enterprising.

Good idea sunseeker .

I am really pleased with John Lewis. Bought DH a new iPad. Couldn’t set it up for a few days and when I did decided to check current price on JL website. £40 cheaper! I emailed them and asked them to price match themselves which they did. Brilliant!

gmelon - perhaps you could contact the company and compliment them on the good customer service.

We have recently had such excellent Customer Service from United Utilities when we had a burst water meter which was located in a bedroom cupboard.
The meter burst off the wall in the cupboard and flooded the bedroom and ran into the hallway all newly fitted with carpet and wooden flooring,an hour after calling a very very efficient CS chap he arranged for a team to get to us asap to help as they identified the problem as theirs a problem that had occured in other homes, this happened at 3.45am and by 9.30am the bedroom had been cleared and all damage removed and driers set up took away all the debris and the following week had laid all the carpets and flooring again.
This Company went that extra mile to help us and pay the damages due within 2 weeks of the problem and would give them a gold star for CS.

I think its about 50/50 between good and bad. The bad are really bad, the good really good.

Interestingly I had a call a week or two back about Nationwide, one of the big consulting firms was doing a survey and asking about the call I had made the previous day. Nationwide had been excellent but I have never received such a call after a bad experience. There is probably a good reason for that.

The worst imo are the ones with no bereavement helpline, one of them was "sorry for your inconvenience" and I was very upset and told them so in no uncertain terms. Losing a family member is not 'inconvenient'.

I rarely have a complaint about customer service. Perhaps I’ve just been lucky.

Sodapop it seems being rude is part of being French, according to a newspaper article recently. A French waiter in Canada is claiming unfair dismissal. The company say he was warned several times about his rudeness to colleagues, he says it’s his French culture and he is being discriminated against! I read also that every year several Japanese tourists have emotional breakdowns when visiting a Paris, they can’t cope with the rudeness!

Have to agree that I’m always surprised at good, efficient and kind service. It shouldn’t be like that, should it. Well done, Millets!

Don't even want to start about customer service here in France. Seems the customer is usually wrong and please don't bother the staff with your trivial requests.
Having said that we are beginning to see an improvement and there are some helpful people.

I ve never bought from M&S as they re a bit expensive for me and not usually got my kind of clothes but I saw a nice jumper the other week so on a whim I bought it I only wore it a few times when I noticed it was really getting bobbly I washed it on 30 hoping that might smooth it down but no I didn’t hunted for the receipt as I was so disappointed could find every receipt in the world but that one
I went online and had a live chat (typing) explained about it and that I couldn’t find the receipt she wrote back that without a receipt it’s doubtful the shop would be able to take it back but as a gesture of goodwill they would send me a gift card for the value £25
Hats off to them great service even if the product let them down

My son spends his holidays in Norway. He goes canoeing yearly with a large group of mates. All young men in their late twenties.
I was looking for a North Face rucksack, large capacity with an aluminum frame.

He's difficult to buy for, he owns a business and a shop selling stuff based on his hobby, he's got everything he might want in stock already!
Husband suggested a rucksack. Im not too keen on it for a gift but know son will love it.

I had my doubts about using Millets but they've come up trumps.

Good old M&S are always polite on the phone. I have had some parcels go astray and we have had long converstation about them and they were always inderstanding and curteous.

That's good. gmelon - can you tell us who it was?

We find, despite all reports to the c ok ntraru, customer service is generally very good.

Shocked at how well I've just been treated.
Isn't it a pleasure to receive friendly customer service.
Why am I so surprised by being spoken to politely ?
I've just finished phoning and am now posting on here because I am so surprised to have spoken with a civilized person.

Something is missing from today's world.

I rang the customer service of well known high street store to check my online order. To make sure they actually had the stock. Past experiences make me doubt online stock levels.
This is my first online purchase from them.

The young man was so helpful, warm and polite.
He told me how many of the item were in their warehouse . Reassured me that my order is fine.

When I asked aprox delivery date he promptly upgraded me to next day delivery. No charge.
I was just about to offer to pay for next day delivery because this is a birthday gift for adult son.

He was so polite, just so nice, why am I so shocked at normal good manners and grace?
