With all this talk of power washers I am waiting to see the company in question bring out a new ad showing old folks power washing stuff... bit a like nana's knitting shreddies :-)

They're never too old for a clip round the ear , if only verbally, Ann in my opinion. You soldier on ann and it is inevitable that you have a breaking point. If your son can cope , get away for a few days. You sound like you really need it .

Well, its a do nothing kind of day here , not helped by the fact its raining . Grampy has gone out for the Sunday papers, I can't remember the last time I read a paper in the flesh so to speak, I seriously hope boiled eggs and soldiers will be accompanying the papers :-)

I am also not cooking Sunday lunch . I did my bit last weekend , so either grampy will pick up the slack or it will be beans on toast all round....watch this space !!

kitty it will be good to get Bertie home if your DD can remortgage the house to retrieve the car! Hospital car parking is another story.

N&G I love a Sunday paper - it lasts me all week! Unlike you, I have stupidly let myself in for cooking a family lunch again today - I knew it was something I didn’t want to do even as the words were coming out of my mouth. I have done it for the last two Sundays. It will be chicken pie today, though, not a roast.
Kitty I’m glad Bertie is being allowed home today, and have every sympathy with your DD over car parking charges. They are horrendous now, even if, as in our hospital car parks, you can find a space! Last time GS had to go for an outpatients appointment, we gave them a lift. By the time DH had found a space, then got soaked finding the pay station, DD texted to say they had finished and were ready to be picked up! We were able to pass on the ticket to someone else, so it wasn’t entirely wasted.
Ann I hope you manage to get some rest today. I did feel for you yesterday. Others are right when they say a few days away from home will do you good.

Lovely blossom, n&g. Around here it is wonderful too and soon the district will be 'magnolia city' all over again. They seem to thrive here. And the little red leaves on my ornamental malus tell me that the deep pink blossom can't be far behind.
Ann, it may have cleared the air with your DS when you had a melt-down yesterday. Sometimes it does no harm to express yourself forcibly although it's an emotional drain at the time. It's a good idea for you to get away for a break, and if he feels he can cope with DH, perhaps you should make it a regular thing.
I keep finding myself drawn to the Commonwealth Games. I know I have better things to do, but just now I've half an eye on a squash game. My game never rose above 'rabbit' level, so I'm full of admiration for the speed, stamina and reflexes of these top players. And as for gymnastics...some of those kids are as young as my teenage GC and their dedication to their sport is beyond comprehension.
Ironing to do and the board is standing waiting for me in front of the TV.

kitty it’s awful being the GPs sitting by the phone waiting for news of our precious GCs who are so unwell. Pleased to hear things have improved for Bertie

Ann It’s one of those times when everyone around you seems to want a piece of you but it’s also time to say enough and you have to look after No 1. when you have been drained to the limit.

If you have the opportunity here to take a break away from it all please take it and look after you, it’s surprising how everyone else will cope and just get on with it. You are a tower of strength to your family but you need to recharge now and again ?

kitty Oh for a relaxing shower. The new one should be installed by mid-week. I've paint in the most unlikely nooks and crannies. Today, with the wind behind me, I should be seeing some positive results for what (for me) has been a marathon task.

Thanks soop but if he is having an unexpected holiday you know where to look, you have been warned. He will not spend long here because I know one very jealous young lady who would not like him in [her] house or with her mum.

Back to the decorating. It's all beginning to seem a lot easier than it did at the very beginning.

Nearly there soop, phew, the feeling when its finished is wonderful isn't it? Teddy is edible, he's going to be firmly in charge I can tell. Not too long now before you get that cuddle.

Please rest ann and please think about a short break, even machines are allowed some down time. I'm sorry if this sounds like nagging, you truly can't care for your husband unless you care for yourself.

Hope bertie is safe and sound at home by now kitty and you can breathe again. I wonder sometimes if we don't worry more about the grandchildren than we did our own children, at least we were more in control with them.

Love the blossom n&g, our camelia has bloomed for weeks all through the snow and now the magnolia is having a turn, it does lift the spirits along with watching the birds ransack the bird table. The official bird feeder is unamused it seems. What else does he think they will do with the food . I'm also on strike from cooking today, Mr C managed the breakfast bacon sandwich and we have an M&S £10 meal for later, some creative re-heating with the addition of a vegetable or two and its done.

I am procrastinating as usual, should be writing a stern letter about tenders for work on our development, I can't find the word I want though - well, actually I can its just the polite version that's evading me. .

Well I had forgotten what colour our patio was!
Now all it needs is repointing /grouting or whatever. Or the thingy with the sand, oh it’s all a learning curve!

Not quite there yet, rain stopped play -see after and before below. But feeling very satisfied with my new toy.

Hiding inside, she had stuck her nose outside once and fled, terrified, poor dog. Needed at least three treats to recover ??

There are so many sad things going on here, I thought I’d try to lighten the moment. I think in a previous life our little dog modelled for the cartoon dog on hallmark cards!

Well, isn’t he coming on, Soop! A real cracker of a smile there ?. That’s the problem with kitchen - I either end up feeling famished (all yesterday’s talk of roast shoulder of lamb!) or broody!! Common sense tells me to come down on the side of the lamb, but don’t we all get a little broody sometimes? Hope you get to hold him soon!

soop when you go to the kitchen tomorrow to make a cup of tea you will be delighted that you have put in so much hard work and effort this weekend to be able to admire your other type of painting work.

charley it’s a girl, called Purdey (amongst other things). She is 3 1/2 and nowhere near as sweet as she looks! Our poor springer has been browbeaten since the day she walked (was carried) into the house.

Nonna Purdey looks as though butter would not melt in her mouth- looks can be deceiving.

Definitely in her case.

Purdey is a beauty. She has a very interesting face. I may paint a wee portrait of her when I have run out of jobs aboot the hoos. NonnaW When I'm free from toil and trouble, I shall ask you to send me a suitable image.

I am totally jiggered. Does anyone know what the going rate is for a painter and decorator? I've clocked up around twenty two hours over the course of the week. There is one room that remains untouched. I'm sitting in it right now. Tomorrow, I may stretch to taking a photo or two which I shall share with you. You do not have to look at it or pass a comment.

Talk about wonderful weather. We have it in spades today. We would normally be outside doing stuff. We haven't had our daily walk, which is a pity. Never mind, all is well. I hope that every one of you enjoys a peaceful and pleasant Sunday evening. Feet up. Bliss!

Our decorator is £120 a day so treat yourself with all the money you saved soop! I shall start the kitchen this week, I promise!
