Don’t get me started on extra weight,
callgirl, 5 of the lbs I painstakingly lost last year have crept back on since Christmas. I’m cross with myself and am now trying to lose them all over again, with absolutely NO success at all. Grrrr... That said we enjoyed a good walk today, but shh don’t mention the lunch it also involved! It was a tad bracing but DRY, the weather not the food! I’ll attach a couple of pictures of beauty big and small.

Ann I do hope things begin to speed up for you to get some much needed support at home asap., you must be exhausted. Please don’t stay out of the kitchen, we’ll only worry about you if you do.

Glad to hear you’re mending corner. I had a very near miss myself on Sunday. Long story short it involved a high shelf, a spilt tin of syrup, a step stool, a scream, a wobble, an amazing acrobatic manoeuvre and some very unladylike expletives!

Regarding the fast food outlet at your door it is as well that you were not away for longer or the rats may have moved in with such a good delivery service of said food.

callgirl oh dear, I am well aware of the weight problem. It is very difficult to lose weight at our age.

Ann I agree, perhaps sedation for your H so that at least he is not wandering through the house and getting dressed during the night. You need your beauty sleep and at least 2 days respite each week.

kitty I did laugh when I read what your mother said to her carer. Caring for somebody with dementia is not something I would want to do mainly because of the abuse.

I actually went out today without a jacket on- the sun was shining for once and it will apparently improve towards the weekend.

The wheels turn slowly ann, I wish I could hurry them for you. soop is exactly right, a cruel illness indeed. I’m sure the carers will not be taking offence, don’t worry about them, try to get at least some of your needs met. Please do send us a quick message when you can, never think you can’t.

I’m unreasonably fine soop, some bruises but nothing that time won’t fix. I will be more careful in future that’s for sure. Please try to do the same, enough injuries.

Ann, I`m so sorry that things aren`t good for you, I really and truly do hope that you soon get the help that you sorely need.
I was at the surgery today, to see 2 different nurses. One gave me a B12 injection, plus she finally unblocked my other ear. The other one was a health check. My cholesterol is too high, I`ve been put on Atorvastatin, my blood pressure is high, have to go back in 2 weeks for it taking again, and, worst of all, SHE WEIGHED ME! I now need to hide away in shame, I knew, obviously that I was very overweight, but I weighed about a stone more than I expected! I`m going to hide away now, like the Ugly Duckling, trouble is,, this one aint going to turn into a swan, lol!

Baggs I'm pleased to hear that you too keep your voles well cared for. They are dear wee creatures. They have entrances and exits all around the tree roots to the bird cherry tree. Comical to see them go in one and exit throughanother.

kitty Yes...why? Sounds wholesome. I must resume the twenty minute flurry on the exercise bike. I shall begin tomorrow. As you do.

Our neighbour has just called in. He very kindly gave me yet another pair of heavy duty MaxiTherm all-purpose work gloves. He also commented on the neatness of the garden. The pair of gloves that he gave me when I started that job are still going strong but the finger ends are thinning.]

Lovely imagery of the voles and their bread stashes, soop ? Here they stash the stones of holly berries under the blue wheelie bin. Never the green one, just the blue. Maybe it has better vole space underneath than the older green one.

There are little vole entrances all along the base of our dry stone wall as well.

First thing this morning, we were treated to the voles carrying what bread we had left into the corner of the chalet. One opted to add a small piece to a wee store cupboard under the chalet.

My mum (aka hyacinth bucket!) told her lovely carer to f* off, you big, fat, black, ugly b***h. Her wonderful carer just gave her a big kiss and said, 'and you love me, don't you?' 'yes, of course I do!' said mum! I was absolutely mortified and Auzette spent half an hour making me feel better. I've gone hot thinking about it but as many carers as they could spare came to her funeral. So, don't worry, ann! I'm glad something is moving and hope it speeds up. Dear ann I've just this minute read your latest post. Dementia is one of the cruellest of conditions. I can only imagine how distressed your husband must feel as he loses his sense of self. I agree with Lona that two days respite, if it can be arranged, will be of some comfort to you. Your health is being sorely taxed. I'm in awe of your resilience. You are amazing. Please may the assistance that you both need and deserve be forthcoming.

NanaandGrampy Jackson's face is a picture of absolute joyfulness. What a perfect treat. Perhaps he could give some of us (me included) to a lesson in parking "tidily" as the instructor kept hammering home when I was a learner driver. I still haven't mastered the art. I do my best but...

Charleyg A true story to tell you regarding the kind neighbours who fed the birds and wild creatures during our absence. I left a note of where the seed and nuts and crow's bread was left each day. I also added that the voles (not dormice) as I believed who reside inside Rory's empty chalet are fed two pieces of bread daily. I should have stressed small pieces not slices of bread. When we returned home, the chalet looked like a takeaway...several slices of bread neatly stacked inside the entrance.

Oh ann how distressing for you both! Regarding the swearing at carers, my lovely dad told one young, inexperienced carer to f***off! I have never heard him swear in all my life. It shows how really distressed they must be with the unhappy state they find themselves in.
Two days respite will help if the SW can organise it. I do hope so

The carers will be used to patients with dementia being rude to them so think nothing of it. If it helps you your DD visiting that is good. Both of your needs need to be met. Your DD's visit will have helped you to keep going. Maybe you could ask the mental health team or your GP for some sedation so your DH sleeps better. You need your sleep as well and you will cope better in the day if you can rest at night. It is all a compromise so that as a couple you can continue to live together at home but your needs are as important as his. Remember you are doing a stirling job! Well done you.xx

Sorry that I am not keeping in touch much.
Life is very difficult, my D's visit, while lovely for me, upset my H as he did not like his routine being upset and he didn't have my attention enough.
He was doubly incontinent over the weekend, either deliberately or not we don't know.
He is up several times during the night, wandering the house and on waking gets dressed as he has lost all knowledge of time.
The carers are lovely but he doesn't like them coming, he told the woman this morning to b.....r off.
I have never ever known him to use such a phrase.
I am waiting for a SW to be appointed and we are being referred to the Mental Health Team, but it all takes time.
I have asked for two days respite a week, I am waiting to hear.
Had a visit from a OT yesterday who agreed I need help if only for my sake.
I will keep you posted occasionally, I don't like posting such depressing thoughts.
Oh I have had a financial assessment form wanting every detail of our finances, including mine,why mine? very detailed and wanting bank statements ,details of all savings and investments, the only thing they don't want to know is which supermarket I use.

corner So sorry to hear that you took a nasty tumble. Never mind the embarrassment...how about the damage done? Are you bruised? After my incident with trying to get out of the bath and making a right disgrace of myself, I have one fair size bruise at the base of my spine. I believe it's on the coccyx. Or something like.

I'm delighted to find the kitchen looking tip top. I can smell the cakes currently being baked in our pristine oven. I shall head an orderly queue when the tasting time arrives. Keep Galen well clear. She'll make a dash to be first and that scooter of hers can be fierce at the best of times.

Well, I would so love to bore you with every detail of the wonderful family gathering. BUT, being a proper lady, I won't. Awww!

The train/bus/taxi journeys together with assistance when required, was first class. All the family made it safely. The paintings were greeted with broad smiles. The food was delicious. The laughter - non-stop. Oh! Almost forgot...the babies are adorable. I had serious cuddles. There are far too many photos to share with you (she says grudgingly) but, I always keep a promise. So...make yourselves comfortable and I share upload three. Maybe, if you plead with me to add more, I may oblige later on.

Afternoon all,

You made me chuckle Jane - have you stopped blushing yet.

Welcome home soop can't wait to hear all about your wonderful get together.

I'm not stopping as I have things to do but my SiL and youngest daughter and the two small boys are at Centre Parcs.

As you ALL know Jackson is a huge fan of all things car related so Grampy and I treated him to an hour off roading !!! In little mini Land Rovers. He face timed us to tell us all about it and sent me a couple of pictures which I'm sharing.

I love the flat cap- came with the Land Rover apparently ( I think he also needed a spaniel!!)

BUT the best bit is I have a quick video clip of him reversing, hand on the passenger seat , looking behind him, dead straight. I CANT REVERSE ...and my 6 yr old GS can ! I'm impressed !!

Yay!!! Here I be...slightly plumper, thanks to the family non-stop buffet and nowhere to exercise some of the calories away. It rained a lot! You know how it is..."I'll just have a wee taster" of this and that and ...cor blimey, before bedtime my waistband was sorely stretched.
