New neighbours

If he is new it may take a while for him to settle down, a bit like some people.
I expect he is more than a bit unsettled or insecure and just announcing his presence to the canine neighbourhood ?

I agree with Maw , however if the barking does persist then you need to talk to them about it.
Good idea to introduce yourself first though and start off on the right foot.

Oh heavens! - I have to admit that that would pull my chain in a BIG way. Other people's dogs being a nuisance to folks is a real bugbear of mine!! (Sorry to the dog lovers! ). I would find it very hard to bear that. Heaps of good luck in dealing with it.

This is awfully irritating and also may mean the dogs not happy however I really think this is going to need kid gloves Hopefully he/ she will settle down but you certainly don’t want to make an enemy of a new neighbour so I wouldn’t wade in with any complaints Bite your tongue and fingers crossed it’s a temporary blip

This may be a silly question, but . . . Are your new neighbours aware of the dog's constant barking? Neighbours of mine had no idea that their dog barked non-stop when they were at work. Quite apart from it driving me insane, I was worried sick about the dog! In the end, I rang them at work one day when it had been constant for nearly four hours and they came home to calm the dog down. They also did some dog training to calm the dog down.

Squiffy, if I live two doors away from them and their dog is barking all the time, I would be surprised if they didn't know. I might have a word with other neighbours, as possibly they might have said something. I feel sorry for the poor dog too, but something needs to be said. It is so annoying but with new people I don't want to get on the wrong side of them. Hope we can settle it peacefully.

Oh dear, what a nightmare! Probably a good idea to get to know them sooner rather than later as it is difficult to know how to handle the situation unless you do.

We have a small yappy dog a couple of doors down from us that you can set your clock by as he starts at the same time every day but it is only while he is being exercised in the garden. We don't seem to hear it when it is cold but perhaps that is because none of us are out in the garden in the cold and the windows are closed. If you are hearing your new neighbours' dog already this early in the year I dread to think what it will be like in the summer with the windows open.

One thing I recommend you don't do is what one of the other neighbours does and that is he yaps back every time the dog yaps. Couldn't quite believe it at first but the neighbour between us confirmed it and I have to confess that while I laughed at first it now drives me potty, I think the yappy neighbour has really cracked and if he carries on I might not be far behind. I do hope your situation gets sorted very quickly.

We had this problem a few years ago, the Parish Council got involved and most of the Village had a noise Diary to fill in.

They had a large dog, shut indoors all day alone, apparently their previous neighbours a few miles away were also very unfriendly!
Anyway some Environmental person came along and spoke to them and the couple bought a puppy! Great, then we had 2 dogs barking all day.

In the end the lady of the house stopped working, both dogs went, I think they barked even when she was at home and she got fed up as well.

Thank goodness for double glazing, but it was a horrid couple of years and the couple were and still are very belligerent about the ‘fuss’ that everyone kicked up.
