I am easily wound up at the best of times and The Daily Mail are really quite good at it, but this headline is just a step too far for me today !

It's easy being green! Pregnant Kate looks blooming in mint as she attends a child mental health symposium in London ahead of her maternity leave

Maternity Leave ??? From what? confused

Bridgeit Wed 21-Mar-18 21:30:38

Well said Monica, as I have said before they do at least put being who they are to good use.

gummybears Wed 21-Mar-18 21:06:09

The Mail are very solicitous to Kate now that Meghan is coming in to draw their nasty barbs.

It's a bloody awful publication.

Jalima1108 Wed 21-Mar-18 20:30:44

What?
gobbledegook.

Massage them.

Jalima1108 Wed 21-Mar-18 20:30:00

I hope that Kate's attendance brought some much-needed attention to this neglected area of mental health.

There!

Now you can go and put your aching feet up, Kate, and have someone to come and massage your them grin

MissAdventure Wed 21-Mar-18 19:56:30

Obviously.

M0nica Wed 21-Mar-18 19:55:48

We have different ideas of respect.

MissAdventure Wed 21-Mar-18 19:53:50

I don't think there is anything particularly disrespectful in what has been posted here.

M0nica Wed 21-Mar-18 19:46:15

Missadventure. I do not ascribe to any of the sentiments you list. But this thread has been just as boring and repetitive in the other direction.

I just think that whatever the subject of a thread when real people are involved they should at least be treated with respect, whether you like them or not or share their opinions or not.

MissAdventure Wed 21-Mar-18 18:14:46

It'd be a bloody boring forum otherwise.
"I just adore the royals!"
"Oh, me too..."
"Mary Berry: now there's the kinda woman I'd like to be!"
"Oh, and me too..."
There wouldn't be much to chat about if we all had exactly the same mindset.

True, it’s not all roses round the door is it?

M0nica Wed 21-Mar-18 18:08:52

Why does everyone have to bitch all the time. I think it frequently is a hard job. The royal family do spend a lot of time standing on their feet and walking around, in those incredibly uncomfortable shoes, wearing clothes stuck on them like paper dolls while the press scrutinise every inch of them for any variation from planet perfect.

Visiting worthy cause after worthy cause, happy smiles stuck on their faces, showing an interest, talking to a hundred different people in a day. Having deep meaning about your private and personal life drawn from the slightest gesture you make, then finding long stories about your life made up and published in newspapers. Always surrounded by people and unable to step out of the house without a policemana foot behind you.Even your family tragedies get spread and round and you get looked at to decide how much you are grieving, how unhappy you are. You cannot even drive off and have a good howl in the car because there will be a policemen in the back seat. No thank you.

Personally I wouldn't do their job for 10 times whatever it is they get

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 15:24:50

Absolutely Bridgeit and thank you. smile

Bridgeit Wed 21-Mar-18 15:17:14

Yes Gillybob, it’s hard isn’t it when those we were so close to are no longer with us. The fact that you have such fond memories is a tribute & a reminder that those we love are never more than a thought away. Best wishes

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 15:11:47

To me she was perfect and I miss her so much Bridgeit sad

Bridgeit Wed 21-Mar-18 15:08:14

Ahh sorry, Gillybob,I get ahead of myself sometimes, & miss the details? She had to be a lovely Grandma with such a name ?

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 15:01:30

I did say it was from the DM in my opening post Bridgeit (my lovely grandma's name was Bridget) . So written just to wind people up.

Bridgeit Wed 21-Mar-18 14:54:58

The Daily Mail printed this, so has no real meaning, but I suppose if you need a meaning for them printing it it is that perhaps they intended it to be inflammatory to some people. Or they could have just said she would not be attending any Royal visits etc etcLike like most pregnant woman nearing full term we adjust what we do, depending on how we feel & how the pregnancy is devoloping. what’s the big deal, why is their an attempt to make it one. I have said it before & I will say it again,we do not get to choose who we are or what our circumstances are. Would our lives be any different if the Royals. the famous, the rich etc etc didn’t exist? And the answer is NO.

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 14:50:28

It certainly is MissA It just about keeps me going sometimes. smile

MissAdventure Wed 21-Mar-18 14:47:56

I know exactly where you're coming from on that score, gilly.
Gransnet is an excellent distraction from life for while. flowers

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 14:45:48

The sun isn't shining her in the NE merlot . It's really very grey which reminds me, my roots need doing urgently

I'm sitting alone at work (bored out of my tree). As you might've already gathered. grin

I can't be too serious about anything at the minute as I just burst out crying.

merlotgran Wed 21-Mar-18 14:40:42

There are some very funny peculiar threads around at the moment - including The Archers of all things.

I've had an exhausting morning traipsing up and down hospital corridors (how come they make your legs ache so much?) with DH and have to do it all again on Friday.

But.....the sun is shining and Gransnet is VERY entertaining at the mo.

Hope all is well with you and yours, gilly smile

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 14:14:45

Exactly MissA wink

MissAdventure Wed 21-Mar-18 14:12:58

She should feel thankful she's not Mary Berry!

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 14:11:57

grin

original.

OldMeg Wed 21-Mar-18 13:54:05

Probably a rest from people criticising everything she does, says and wears, and gearing up to do the same with the Royal Wedding

Very true.
