Katie Boyle was my DF’s 'dream woman'!
Actually, she and my DM looked very similar, (and were born just 16 weeks apart), obviously DF had a 'type'!
RIP Katie.

She was a class act in her presentation of Eurovision. This brought back memories of my Dad who was a fan of her and Sylvia Peters a TV announcer in the 50s. We used to tease him about it.
They were so glamorous in their evening dresses and had such a charming presence. Different times.

Aged 9, I used to slap soap suds on my face thanks to Katie and Camay. My mum used to go mad! (For destroying my skin or wasting soap?)
Her polylingualism (?) always impressed me too. As a teacher I was similarly impressed by pupils for whom English was their 2nd language, especially when they had to learn an new alphabet too.

I think it was Brian Johnson who sang looking high high high. I always thought Katie looked very elegant and perfectly turned out.

I remember her for the Camay ad 'Fabulous pink Camay'.... I think she was once married to a tory MP, Sir Edward Boyle? 91 is a good innings for anyone. Well done, Katy Boyle.

Lovely lady yes we used camay soap as my dad worked for Procter and gamble my mam used to say wash your face properly don't tickle it like the advert! Meaning Katie.x

She was very classy in the best meaning of the word and presented in French and English. I always liked watching her. I miss good elocution. She managed it without sounding like Perceived Pronunciation which was always a bit plummy and false.

Goodness I remember the lovely lady from my childhood and now you mention it Anniepops I do remember the Camay advert.
My dad would copy the advert (when washing his face) he would rub his cheek and say Camay!
It made us laugh.

I think the song was one of the the first ever Song for Europe competitions and UK won with 'Sing sing sing little birdie'. I remember it well sung by a man and woman duo I think. Another was 'Looking high high high, looking low low low'
Why can I remember this but not current songs or what I did yesterday?

Looking at photographs of her she was certainly a classic beauty. She was 91 I believe when she died. Looking at her obituary she clearly had a very unsettling childhood with an Italian father during the war years. Don't know if she ever had children of her own.

I remember whenever Katie Boyle came on TV my mother would remind us all that she was a 'proper' lady by that she meant titled. She was a lady anyway I think. RIP.

I remember meeting her once at a South Ken hairdressers I think in the early 70’s where I had gone for a “Purdey” cut, having saved out of the housekeeping for months.
She complimented me on it (!) and commented that a good haircut may cost more than a dress but was worth it. I thought (silently) that she could probably afford to go there every day as she was clearly a regular.
Striking looking woman with an amazing “presence” though and very friendly.

Katie Boyle was always the perfect host and I suppose quite unusual for a woman to have such a leading role then. I always remember her as being very lady like.
