There was nothing nasty about Kitty's comment- just a simple opinion on a TV presenter - and many of us agreed. Simple.

It is a turn of phrase ( but in the Bible too) and I think apt here as there are some really unpleasant comments being made about Mary's appearance and character, e.g.,
She's too thin,
Her hairstyle is horrible
She wears nail polish
She's full of herself
She's over exposed on the tv
She's smug
She's earning too much money
She should retire
to name just a few unpleasant remarks. It's almost verging on the bullying.
So yes, I'm happy with that phrase I used. Search yourself before you make these unkind remarks - how perfect are you? I'm certainly not, but I hope I wasn't brought up to make nasty remarks about people. I wonder how many of you who have said these unpleasant things would say it to her face and also how would you feel if they were said about you?
Yes, you are entitled to say whether you like someone or not, but hold off on the unpleasantness. It's not necessary, it's unkind. Search your consciences first and ask yourself, would I want that said about me?

I admire Mary Berry doing what she does at her age, I just hope I am as fit as her when I get there. My granddaughter of 13 years loves her.

Dear God we're talking about a TV personality styled within an inch of her life and presented in a certain way to elicit certain responses. The Mary Berry on screen is NOT the Mary Berry in REAL life and the sanctimonious, patronising comments about bullying and revealing as if all GN posters who express opinions are spectacle crunching nasties are beyond ridiculous.

Come on ladies... sure you’re not just the teeniest bit jealous because she looks glam?!... I only say this because I know someone who has an inherent dislike of any other lady who is remotely attractive...

I could name loads of very beautiful celebs I might be a teensy bit envious of ... but MB? Definitely not .

When someone makes a living from showing off on TV or on stage etc. They deliberately put themselves out there for criticism . I’m sure MB would be laughing if she bothered to read this dribble ( which I can’t imagine she would) thinking “ hmm think what you like about me I’m rich beyond my wildest dreams, I’m successful , i’m never off the TV ....whereas Gillybob from Tyneside is a nothing and a nobody “

Oh I can't stand her, so of course I don't watch her. She is patronising, snobbish and dictatorial. As for the series where she visited stately homes she positively crawled to anyone she thought aristocracy. And I couldn't avoid it they kept playing clips to advertise the B*** thing!

Mapleleafnailpolish is not allowed in any working kitchen ,neither is jewellery ,so yes it does irritate me when I see her with rings on and her nails brightly coloured and stuck in a bowl of pastry mix .I watch the American version of Masterchef too and lose my cool at women in high heels teetering about with hair hanging all over their faces in a cooking competition

Apparently this gel stuff doesn’t flake off, but I do agree it’s not something I would wear when baking and cooking.
However, that wasn’t the point I was making, it was the fact there are some really unpleasant things being said about Mary Berry, including how she looks, and it’s that I find abhorrent.

I am not a fan of Mary Berry. I find her stuffy and patronising. It's like cookery in some sort of other world, a sterile one where nobody can relax or make off the cuff remarks. I dislike Nigel for her soft porn approach - the other end of the presenting spectrum. I am not fond of Mary for making me think the vicar is about to arrive to heap praise on her offerings. Prue Leith on Bake Off is a huge improvement IMO.

As some have said. Once a channel has someone who seems to be liked by the public they overuse them.
Then they don’t pick up on our withdrawal symptoms.
There is such a wealth of talent out there to be used they should stop playing safe.
I quite like Mary, and her recipes. I wonder if she was paid as much as the Hollywood.

I like her. In fact I've just got her Classic Mary Berry book. I ran a coffee shop for years and used lots of her cake recipes. If I don't take to someone on the telly then I don't watch them.
