Does anyone else find her patronising and irritatingly self congratulatory? Or is it just me?

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 08:31:00

Off you trot then OldMeg so happy to help !

DanniRae Wed 21-Mar-18 08:27:55

Yes the Hairy Bikers Miss A. Don't you like them? I find them very watchable - especially Si King the one who wasn't on "Strictly".............. blush

OldMeg Wed 21-Mar-18 08:26:56

Carry on gilly you’re making my point for me.

Meanwhile I have work to do even if you don’t ?

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 08:25:18

Oh I love the Beary Hikers DanniRae

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 08:24:08

Are we even talking about the same person though? grin

MissAdventure Wed 21-Mar-18 08:20:49

Oh no! Not the hairy bikers! grin

DanniRae Wed 21-Mar-18 08:19:33

Yes, I remember Nigella sitting on the bottom of the stairs etc - I instantly thought "What a lovely dressing gown!" Apparently I wasn't the only one and it immediately sold out (I think you could find out on line where it could be bought).
Anyway I just love cooking shows and, as someone has already said, especially the Hairy Bikers on their travels around Europe................entertaining and educational as well!

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 08:19:19

Really ? It’s not all about me ? Oh I’m gutted now OldMeg you’ve spoiled my day .

Are you saying she didn’t sit in her silky robe and suck her fingers on tv ? Are you saying because she’s suffered tragedy in her life she doesn’t know what’s she’s doing playing up to the cameras ? grin

OldMeg Wed 21-Mar-18 08:15:31

Just pointing out that you are mocking a woman who has had quite a hard and tragic life gillybob

That of course is your right just as it is OK for me to put the other point of view. You seem think I am ‘deliberately pulling at evetything’ you say, but it’s not all about you.

If someone else had posted that, I would have replied in the same way. So I’m sorry you feel it’s you who is in the firing line.

I had thought it was MB (and Nigella) who were being held up to ridicule. Not nice is it?

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 07:55:45

And for the record whilst I have not called her a Trollop, I believe it was meant as a joke .

gillybob Wed 21-Mar-18 07:54:27

Are you trying to say because she has had a sad ( tragic even) family life that she doesn’t sit in her silky robe, licking her fingers OldMeg ? Because she did and it was televised too. Made all the newspapers . Really sometimes.....I wonder if you’re just deliberately pulling at everything I say ? Yesterday it was my moral high ground (that you refused to explain) .

Anyway Love her or loath her she is quite famous for innuendo and provocative actions when cooking and apparently has a lot of male fans watching her not just for the cooking. shock

OldMeg Wed 21-Mar-18 06:56:00

Nigella? That’ll be the woman who lost her mother while still quite young, her sister not long after to breast cancer and her husband to liver cancer. Then was brave enough to remove herself from an abusive relationship?

Or is that the trollop sitting licking chocolate off her fingers.....? ?

Shirleyw Wed 21-Mar-18 05:23:08

I like 'ol Mary Berry, have most of her books. Haven't made a failed recipe yet from them ......sure, she was probably snobby in her day, she just had that look when you see her younger pictures but she looks good now and I like the clothes she wears, ( she should have her own line in M&S ???)...I like watching her programmes too......

gillybob Tue 20-Mar-18 22:31:27

In her silky robe sitting at the bottom of the stairs licking chocolate fondant from her fingers......

trisher Tue 20-Mar-18 21:54:21

Nigella the trollop doesn't do the cooking for her programmes either. Minions do it and she poses with things afterwards.

Chewbacca Tue 20-Mar-18 21:27:37

grin merlotgran !

OldMeg Tue 20-Mar-18 20:32:37

Jalima ???

merlotgran Tue 20-Mar-18 20:01:29

Nigella, the trollop doesn't check receipts. grin

Jalima1108 Tue 20-Mar-18 19:54:36

Yes, quite a few.
I was being facetious um, er

OldMeg Tue 20-Mar-18 19:53:19

You’ve obviously not been to a book signing Jalima ....

Jalima1108 Tue 20-Mar-18 19:49:25

hmm

Perhaps one had to show the receipt OldMeg
No receipt no signature!

And no, I am not jealous of her in any way.
I do remember watching the programme when she talked about her son. sad

OldMeg Tue 20-Mar-18 19:45:29

Gosh, was MB watching or manning the tills? Wonder how she knew that one book prrsented for signing had not been paid for when she seated at her signing table.

????

bluebirdwsm Tue 20-Mar-18 19:13:41

My opinion of Mary Berry is based on her attitude towards someone I knew who was at a book signing. And I will not give my opinion on here, way too much idealisation and pearl clutching going on.

In a wheelchair [not as lucky with her polio illness as Mary was] and elderly, clearly unwell, the mother of a friend presented MB's book for signing before paying for it, not knowing this was the wrong way round to do it.

She loved MB, this was a lovely day for her, she absolutely was going to buy it after signing, no doubt about that.

MB snapped at her because it had not already been paid for and refused to sign it! Appealing to any kind nature MB might have did not work! The customer would have had to have queued all over again, she had made an enormous effort to go to the venue and was then so tired.

So no one in this family or anyone who knows her watches her or buys her books.

As for being jealous of her...no way do we envy her or even think she is 'glam'! Why would we, we have our own satisfactory lives, own success and are content with what we have and how we live?

Jalima1108 Tue 20-Mar-18 19:08:18

I've always found Delia's recipes 100% reliable but her TV programmes were as dull as ditchwater.
Very worthy though, and her recipes do work.
I did enjoy it when she got a bit drunk at that football match!

DS (an excellent cook) prefers Mary's recipes to Jamie's.

Jalima1108 Tue 20-Mar-18 19:05:31

Crumbs!
Cake crumbs merlotgran!
