Hair salon disaster!

I have foils on my hair and I find they work really well and I would imagine they must have been put on badly to look so wrong.

Why not try foils in more than one colour-I have copper,dark blond and light blond and with three colours it blends well.

Well done for going back and getting your money refunded. Did they also sort out your hair?

I must be really lucky with my hairdresser, he looks like a young Greek god, yes, he is Greek, my hair always looks good when I leave the salon and he looks after me really well. My hair is grey verging on white and I love it, would never consider colouring it.
If I were you Azie09 I would return to the salon and tell them you are not happy with the colour and ask them to redo it, good luck. Red dye on grey hair? Really a no no.

I'd take a couple of selfies then go back to the salon and ask for the manager (or ring first and ask what day and time she/he will be there)
Explain about the poor attitude of the person who did your hair and show the photographs but explain that you've tried to mitigate the damage by washing it several times.
Explain that you want a senior stylist to put your hair right.
If they won't comply, even though you weren't happy on the day and said so, then do urge them to think again because otherwise you will bill them for having it 'repaired' by another salon or take them to the county court. You will also give an interview to your local paper.
Lots of luck and stand your ground.

Always loathed going to the hairdressers, although on one occasion I had a fancy hairstyle as a bridesmaid which I really liked. Once tried a perm which I hated. Have never had my hair coloured. Nowadays I cut my own and am reasonably satisfied with it.

Meant to say. After the orange hair incident I stopped going to hairdressers. Didn't look for one.
Ten years later I rushed into one just for a hair wash.
My bathroom was being refitted/ruined.
There she was, my hair angel.

I had caramel foils that came out orange. Bright orange against my brown hair.
Went back next day, wearing a hat, they coloured it all brown free of charge and refunded the original cost.
Never went back. Scared me stiff.

Found the perfect hairdresser now but took me til I was over fifty yrs old.

Glad you sorted it out. Hope you find someone better. Why not ask around if there is a mobile hairdresser locally who would come to your home. I have one and she is very good and also much cheaper than going to a salon.

Go back to your hairdresser. For Chinese New year I wanted some dark pink highlights. I saw my hairdresser mixing the pink with a pale blond I explained they would come out too pale. She said no. When she had finished they were hardly visible. I said this was not what I had expected and they would have to be done again. We made an appointment. I came in wearing a dark pink top and advised they had to match. They did. I was not charged. I have had plenty of positive comments.

In case anyone is interested, they apologised and gave me a full refund. Thanks for all your comments. It feels like years since I have had a hairdresser who I trusted and liked. I think you do often get disregarded if you're older and they give you something 'suitable' ie, boring. Oh well, onto the next!

Whatever you do. Don’t try to rescue it at home. I tried to cover thick blond streaks that I’d had done in a hairdresser. The roots were coming in and I thought I’d deal with it myself. Believe it or not the streaks turned bright blue. The worst of it was I was a student in a clinical placement in a psychiatric hospital. My uniform was a strong blue. I thought they would fail me but happily they didn’t. It was 50 years ago but you can see how scarred I am by it. Lol. No hairdresse could fix it then so I had to wait until it grew out. Delighted your husband is going back with you. It’ll make you feel much braver. I would do the same. Good luck with it. Let us know how you get on.

I’ve always had blonde highlights put into mine, but for a change I had lowlights one time. I went home and cried, then rang my hairdresser, told him how much I hated it and he made another appointment for the blonde highlights. And there was NO charge! As he said, if I wasn’t happy then he wasn’t happy.

I have blonde highlights, and have never had this result. I would contact the salon manager and ask for them to correct this for you.

I also hate hairdressers, Azie09. Whenever I have a cut &blowdry I immediately come home and do it again to make it look ok. The hair dressers just don't listen especially if you're older. My friend asked for something 'edgy' and at last she got a more modern style.

Glad that you are going back with your DH. They ought to put it right and retrain that member of staff - in every way.
If you are made to feel uncomfortable then you need to vote with your feet and would be quite within your rights to let others know of your experience. Nobody would willingly go to a salon where that kind of thing happens and we would all appreciate it being flagged up. I do hope you get a good result and feel much happier very soon!

Ring to make appt with owner/manager to discuss your hair. Explain you're not happy. S/he has to see the problem to negotiate sorting it. Don't accept that they say you've washed it a lot, so it's not their problem.
Half head is having highlights put in not all of your hair, but usually the front from the crown forward and sides. Tin foils are just the means of wrapping sections of your hair to take the highlights (rather than the alternative - meshe)

I've also had colour disasters, the worst being orange stripes! I've now gone au naturel for several years now, and am a sort of silvery colour, which I'm told suits me., so I'm happy with it. Good luck at the salon, stand your ground, hopefully you'll get a more senior stylist who will sort it out.

I find many stylists!!! are patronising and make you feel they are doing you a favour.
My hair is in dire need of a makeover but if honest I am more relaxed visiting a dentist than a hair salon.

Azie, I'm puzzled about why you ever went back to a hairdresser who you describe as being a bit sulky and difficult when she'd previously cut your hair?
Personally, I'd find it really uncomfortable to put my hair into the hands of someone I couldn't establish a rapport with and they wouldn't get a second chance.
But good luck for your trip back there today and I hope the disaster can be rectified.

A lot of colleges have training salons where the price is reasonable and every stage is supervised. I have a regular hairdresser but if she ever gave up I would definitely go to a college salon.

My hairdresser showed me how to cut my hair, I have it very short and in layers. When I am away for 3 or 4 months out in the back of beyond I just can’t get it cut. So over the 10 years I have cut it myself and now cut other people hair when away. Back home I have a passport size photo that I take to the hairdressers to show them how I want it, as for colour got fed up with that and just went grey or white in my case.

gretta you would probably be better off finding a hairdresser that is advertising for models. Although you get a trainee they should be well supervised so you should end up looking ok when you leave. I think most people would find cutting their own hair very difficult. Home colouring is now much better than it used to be so perhaps have a look at the semi-permanents that are about?
