Suffragettes and mice!

Have just been going through a very old album of postcards, collected by my granny. Some are dated as early as 1905.
Thought you might this little snippet on the back of one of them, dated Dec. 5th, 1907.

'The suffragettes seem to be very active just now. I suppose you have seen how when some mice were let loose at one of their meetings Miss Pankhurst picked them up and stroked them"'.

Very unexpected find find amongst all the 'very cold/grand weather/Grannie was very pleased with the tomatoes/poor Auntie Nellie/we had a ripping time' etc!

Yes, do keep them. An interesting and amusing snippet from an important part of our social and political history.

I'm definitely keeping them - though they'll be just something else for dds to have to get rid of one day. With the best will in the world, nobody can keep everything for ever...

There are dozens and dozens - have transferred to a tin, since the album was falling to bits. Not perhaps surprising given that it was probably bought v early 1900s.

My granny once told me that she could remember her father saying in a very sombre voice, 'The Queen is dead! - and how she thought the world would come to an end if the Queen was dead!
