OCD or plain bonkers!

In a previous life, I think I might have been a laundry maid. I love all aspects of the laundry process including ironing. Sad, eh?

As for pegs, mine are coloured plastic ones and they must be co-ordinated on the line, so that each item has not matching, but contrasting colours. Great satisfaction when pegging out a four cornered item like a bottom sheet. All four colours can be used. Deep joy!

Order of pegging out: of course smalls on the inside of the rotary drier away from nosey parkers. Labels must always be folded out of sight. I have also looked on YouTube for the best way to iron a fitted sheet.....

The OH has learnt none of this. I wonder if it's a ploy....

All of the above and more! Except the clothes peg thing which I think I may be doing from now on ...

I do separate whites and colours, hot wash and delicates and as my washing can be seen from the road undies are always on the inside so as not to shock the neighbours ?. I wouldn’t dream of changing how a visitor made their bed though as in my experience people differ greatly on how they like their bed clothes when they sleep - some like the covers tucked in and some like them loose

Thank goodness I am not the only one who has a 'way' for doing everything. My methods are usually based on logic and cut time and effort:- the maximum effect for the minimum output. But I am OCD about everything. I can't bear crumbs on the kitchen side or things to be out of their place, for example.

My dear OH is just as bad as me and we have had to agree that he gets to pack the dishwasher in the evening while I get sole dibs on the morning stacking.

We know how to live! On the plus side, while we may be sad, sorry bores, it is easy to make us happy.

Exactly as you do silver. Whites and pales on one wash, darks in another, and work clothes in yet another. Bright colours wash in summer. Also fussy about dishwasher loading.

I have a wheely gig which I use in good weather and I always put underwear in the innermost parts (don't want the neighbours seeing them!), then t-shirts, blouses etc in the middle and lastly towels and thick-ish stuff on the outside.
My house isn't too tidy but with this I am obviously a bit of a fuss-pot.

So I'm sitting here desperately trying to think of anything I might get a little obsessed about! I can't think of anything. I'm not an overly tidy person but the house is reasonable at most times. Washing is just washing! However, there is just one thing, completely unrelated to any previous posts. I have to listen till the absolute end of any song/theme tune/commercial music etc before I turn it off or change channels. Leaving a song in mid tune makes me feel uncomfortable and strangely unsettled! The nearer the end it is the worse that feeling is. God forbid anyone who cuts it off at the last but one note! Arghhhh. ;-) ;-)

Yes, I will admit to being a bit fussy about the washing line but not as bad as y 6 year old GD when helping me - each item has to have the coloured plastic pegs matching - no mix of blues and greens etc! And yes DH could drive me mad at the checkout when he puts the bread on when I'm still loading on the heavier items which always go first for me.

Everything in my house has a place and I am a complete clean freak... however my car is an absolute tip. Wonder what a psycologist would make of that!

Would that I could delight in the niceties of matching colours of clothing to pegs etc. I just have enough energy to survive,making as many short cuts as necessary

No washing line or dishwasher now, washer dryer saves a lot of time, clothes that can't be tumble dried go on the airer. Washing up is usually done last thing at night & left to dry unless I've been out all day & there's only a couple of items.

Shopping goes on conveyor belt in order & I like to pack heavy items first, fruit & veg together, any cleaning products & deordorants etc must go in a separate bag away from food

I do like things in the right place, Tea, Coffee & Sugar cannisters must be in the right (logical) order ready for use

Yes, Silverlinings I still hang out my washing in the same way as you. My grandmothers and great-aunts made quite sure of that when I was a child helping on washing days.

My paternal grandmother was horrified when my mother hung her own underpants on the same clothes-line as my father's. My mother thought she was joking and flippantly replied, "But we are married, so I suppose our underpants are too" Can you imagine what that did to the MIL - DIL relationship?

I like hanging my washing my way, and I like to stack the dishwasher my way!

Oh yes order must reign in all things to do with washing, hanging, and folding!

What happened to being ecologically friendly Glammanana? I wash everything at 30 and my 'whites' are as bright as a button!!!!!

Has anyone else noticed, how people leave their pegs attached to the washing line. All winter in some cases. I recall my Nan wiping the line down before handing the washing out! At least I have a cover on mine.

When I do a supermarket shop I have different bags for meat, dairy and other chilled items, veg&fruit, bread and dry goods and heavy items . Dh thinks Im incredibly fussy and when he shops he does it all wrong -everything jumbled together. If I point this out he harrumphs that I should do my own shopping next time so I now try not to complain. He also loads the dishwasher wrong and unloads it in the wrong order but gets cross when I say so. He puts mugs away wrong too - I have a set on a mug tree but he puts any old mugs on there. Otherwise I dont think Im fussy at all!

I am fussy where it’s also practical. Separate whites and colours for washing, hang small stuff first, hang from waistband for skirts and trousers, bottom for all else, socks in pairs but really not bothered about peg colour.
Shopping on conveyor belt so that heavy items can be packed first and also fridge and freezer stuff separately so that unpacking at home is easier. Clothes by item but necessarily colour coded.
I think I’m reasonably tidy and practical but not ott. My home is lived in but fairly well organised.
Given the choice of tidying cupboards or a meal out with friends the cupboards can always wait..........but not for too long.

I dislike...yes, even HATE it when checkout staff blow their noses then continue to touch my shopping on the belt, even opening the bread bag to see the bread rolls. I now always use the self service tills.
I also used to put the heaviest items on the conveyer first and the lightest last, as that is how I pack them and I too, like the OP, have my own particular way of hanging clothes on the line and folding them when dry. I don't like anyone else doing it for me...thank you very much.

I love this thread! I don't do many of these things mentioned above but I do have my own little foibles! DH always gets up first in the morning and opens the kitchen blinds. He never positions them as I like them so each morning I alter them. I have a certain way of pegging washing out but don't do the colour co-ordinating pegs thing, although after reading this, I have a feeling I might start!

No it’s not OCD. You are pegging them out in the order that they are going to be put away, makes it so much quicker when bringing them in, a task I hate. I do the same with my shopping , so that all the veg etc are together to be put away into the same places.

Oh would love to be able to be spick and span just need to get rid of husband DD/SIL/3GC and a dog

Yippee!!!! I am not a freak. I have/do all of the above. Drive family members mad - pegs, colour match clothes, mug handles to the right, shopping at check out, dishwasher, even the clothes I washing machine. As for bedding, I cannot abide using DH pillows or pillow cases.
