After reading a lot of negative threads re DIL's, I would like to say well done and how proud we are of our E. She met our son when she was 17 he was 19. E had been in foster care all her life in fact she'd had 7 so called families, moved from Wales to England as the different countries couldn't agree on her care. (Money). At 13 she finally found a good family but fate interviened and the mother died so she was removed as she was not ALLOWED to stay with the dad.(she is still in touch with him). Sent to a new family the last being in our town where she met son.
4 months before she turned 18 new 'family' told her that when the money stopped she was to find somewhere else to live. Long story short she moved in with us she had her own room etc. Our DD treated her like a sister.
15 years down the road, they are married, have 2 children (I was allowed in with her during labour as well as son). They have a lovely home and 2 dogs.
When she was 16 she went to work in a call centre as was told by this 'family' that she was thick. When she came to live with us, me and her went to our local industrial estate to drop of her CV. She got a job as a receptionist and that was the start of her proper working life.
The reason for my post is that yesterday she got the news that she was going to become head of the company in our town with 30 staff under her.
We are so very proud of her and she is my extra daughter. She calls me her monster in law as a joke. The things that happened in her early life I don't think I or DD would cope as well as her.
Our family is so lucky to have her in our lives.
Sorry for the long post but im so happy.
