Has anyone else saved money because of the bad weather?

Yes we saved on petrol and incidental spending but more so because my spring shopping day with my sister in Cambridge was cancelled and now I cant fit one in the diary. Its all good though.

Thought we had saved some, but yesterday we bought a plug in radiator, so that if/when our (on the blink) heating packs up, we will have some warmth.

I had to call a plumber in to have a look in the loft area, and whilst he was 'looking' the ballcock snapped, so I had to pay for that to be replaced.

I've just paid £75 fo coal and £300+ for heating oil so that'll be a no from me!

I have been living out of the freezer and larder too. They are both now looking decidedly bare and it's our fortnightly shopping day tomorrow. I'm just wondering what it will cost to restock. I'm guessing the bill will be considerably more than usual.

I’ve been out every day, far easier on foot than by car so shopped as normal, but had the heat on sixteen hours daily so dread the gas bill.

Less petrol, higher gas and electric bill, probably even. However, the freezer and cupboard have wiggle room not seen in ages. We have had a lovely time, eating, playing out and relaxing.

Surely what I've saved in not going shopping or using the car will be balanced by the increase in my energy bills.

Nope.
Still managed to get to MiL and to look after grandchildren.
So glad that the wonderful carers And Meals on Wheels also got to my MiL.

Amazon kept in business
Before getting out of the car on our return home yesterday DH remarked that we had Amazon delivery
When I asked how he knew he pointed to the footsteps in the snow leading to our porch!

Heating on 24/7.

Comfort munching not quite 24/7. but more than usual.
kettle seems to perminantly on the boil

Yes, a real bonus, I can actually see where things are in the chest freezer and close the lid without a major reshuffle every time.

Saved lots having done next to no shopping and loving the fact that I am using up things that have lingered too long in the cupboard and deep freeze . I could go on for a few weeks more buying very little .

I've saved money on petrol - and blown any savings on online shopping! Our heating bill will have rocketed too as I'm a cold mortal.

I haven't spent any money for over a week as we can't really get out so I have saved money. The gas and electric bills will probably put paid to that!

I have not been out since Monday but bought a load of food then and had an on line delivery on Wednesday for heavy stuff like milk and cat litter etc. I have had the heating on low overnight each night but what I have saved on petrol will pay for that.

You’re welcome etheltbags my sister ( nhs) has been off work on full pay since Wednesday . Me, my husband , son and heavily pregnant daughter have had no choice but to get there . I had to dig my own car out on Wednesday , Thursday and Friday Morning.my poor heavily pregnant daughter had to wait for 3 hours for a metro home on Thursday . The real world!

We have not been out for 3 days so have not done a big shop this week but we have plenty in stock so will not go without,only time outdoors was to take Poppy for her daily walks she couldn't understand why her paws kept disappearing under the snow.

No, ordered some spring clothes for GCs to collect at Marks later in the week.
Not spent any real money though!

I've saved money on petrol because my area is still pretty much still snowed up and my car hasn't moved since Tuesday. But the best thing is that being unable to get out galvanised me into sorting out the back bedroom. It's been a dumping ground for too much, for too long. It's now been emptied, cleaned and repainted and I've got bags of recycling to get rid of. Trouble is, I've now got to buy a bed. And duvet. And pillows. And bedding. ..and...... So, no, I've not actually saved anything after all. But it looks better!

I've had the heating on for longer, and yesterday all the DGC plus DD and DSiL visited for the day. We bought extra food and kept the house warmer, so we've probably spent a bit more than we would have.

Made no difference to me or mine . We were forced to trudge through the snow. No work equals no pay to many .

Same here, did ordering on Amazon, but in mitigation it was for three upcoming birthdays ( and saved legwork.)
Today I should have been meeting a friend in town, so have definitely saved money there.
Glad it’s all melting away ( here anyway) as DH is getting cabin fever.
