Unexpected result of the cold weather

It takes a heck of a lot to make me too warm in bed. I have a MF pillow which I hope is taking the weight of my painful back joint. When I had my shoulder tendons repaired in a private hospital on the NHS the mattress and the chair were both made of MF . The mattress gave me no back support when sitting which was very uncomfortable.

The best laugh I've had for ages Flower and starlily. I can picture the scene but wished I'd have been there. [funny]

Flower, your story brought back the memory of when my brother was in hospital years ago. He was in a very special hospital bed ( because he had a large and nasty bedsore.) It was self inflating, and one day the mechanism went haywire. We visitors didn't notice at first, then realised that he was disappearing, his wife rang for a nurse who came running in and tried to put things right, she had to run out to get another nurse who managed to stop it. By then my brother looked like a rabbit peeping out of its burrow, and everyone was creased up with laughing so much. I had completely forgotten about it until I read your post. Now I'm sitting here laughing my head off.

Flower, I had a similar experience with an inflatable bed. I was unaccompanied and sometime during the night, I woke up and thought there was something funny about the bed. Then I found that I couldn't get out. I was deep in the middle and every time I tried to climb over the side, I rolled back. Eventually, I managed to crawl to the end of the bed and scramble out. Then summoned DS who had inflated the thing for me.

Talking of beds....just after we got married we stayed at the in laws and my lovely FIL had installed a greenhouse heater in the bed to warm it up (no one knows why!).....ten minutes after we got in the bed set alight! I have never felt so embarrassed shouting the bed is on fire when only newly married!!!!

We have a wool mattress, topper and duvet cover best bed I have ever slept in. It cost an arm and both legs but it's worth it.
DH feels the cold so I'm his little hottie.

We tried an inflatable bed once on holiday. OH being the heavier, I was bounced in the air whilst he was subsumed by the bed. It was cold, into the bargain and tended to gurgle at odd moments. Not an experience we've ever repeated.

I use a Tempur memory foam mattress with a quilted mattress protector and fitted sheet on, so I'm not in direct contact with the foam. I wouldn't be without it.

We once used an electric inflatable bed at my DDS house. In the middle of the night I (being heavier than my DH) found myself rolling onto the floor. I scrambled to my feet and heard poor DH calling for help. I managed to switch light on to find him being devoured by the bed. His whole body had disappear and all I could see was his horrified face. It looked for all the world that the mattress was giving birth to him. After I had composed myself...I plugged the thing back in and he rose like Lazerous. Story kept me in coffee for weeks.

O12, Really, really. Once adjusted to the firmness and temperature that suits then never a need to adjust. We had ours for 26 years without a single problem. The ability to rush in late on a freezing night and straight to bed without thought of electric blanket or hot water bottle is just the best. Absolutely wonderful. Really!

We had a memory foam mattress and although I couldn't fault it for comfort, it was so horribly hot in the summer that it lasted for less than a year. We now have a king size mattress which is all natural fibres - wool and cotton - and cotton bedding with a down duvet and pillows. So much easier to sleep now.

friends of ours are having a new house built and they have had to strengthen the bedroom floor to take their waterbed, the wouldn’t be without it, they say it’s the best bed they have ever had.

Best bed we ever had was a water bed. I had so many reservations. All wrong!

Having a few back problems we have a medium firm mattress with a mattress topper, which seems to work well.
Have just changed the toppers for new ones, as over time, a dip does develop as another poster says.
Yes, it does make the bed warmer, which in Summer isn’t great, but cotton sheets do help.

Will there be enough room in the bed for all of you

They say that hot water bottles and electric blankets make the foam warm and then it doesn’t mould to your body, DH has used both for years.
He seems over enthusiastic about having a couple of hotties though
