JackyB Wed 28-Feb-18 19:17:21

My only gripe is beetroot. Just the thought of it makes me shudder.

Oh, and hummus.

varian Wed 28-Feb-18 19:21:21

Coriander. My OH cannot stand it either. Aparently it is a genetic thing. You either love it or hate it.

sodapop Wed 28-Feb-18 19:30:15

Maggiemaybe Wed 28-Feb-18 23:15:23

What a lot of food hates! Send some over to me too, unless they're offal, fatty meat, gristle, squid or whelks. You can keep your sickly salad cream and hotly tasteless white sauce as well, thank you kindly.

I ruddy love Richmond sausages (I've never yet found gristle in one). grin

Maggiemaybe Wed 28-Feb-18 23:17:13

Hotly tasteless? Totally tasteless!

I'll just add incomprehensible predictive text to the list.

vampirequeen Thu 01-Mar-18 08:08:11

The way the country comes to a standstill because it snows.
The media obsession with the snow.
Phoning a company/hospital/doctor's surgery etc. and being greeted by a robot that insists you press a specific sequence of numbers which is bad enough but worse still when after following all the instructions a message says they are busy and tell you to phone back later then disconnects the call. Are you listening DWP!!!!?????????????

Grandma70s Thu 01-Mar-18 09:03:30

This could be a long list.

Avocado
Smoked salmon
Most pop/rock and the people who perform it
Dumbing down
Chips on shoulders
Donald Trump
Margaret Thatcher
Inverted snobbery
Very hot weather
Old people trying to look young and just succeeding in looking fake
Euphemisms
Disney cartoon films, especially those wrecking British children’s literature like Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan
The increasing Americanisation of our language and culture

Those will do for now.

Granny23 Thu 01-Mar-18 10:05:16

Food not a problem, I only buy/grow/cook things I like.

Nuisance Calls
Coat Hangers
Question Time (Nigel Farage on AGAIN tonight)

People who offer instant solutions to problems of the 'You should just ......' sort , which imply that I am so thick that I have not thought of that myself and there is a glaringly obvious reason why the facile solution would not work in my situation.

Grandma70s Thu 01-Mar-18 10:09:29

Oh yes, Nigel Farage. I’ll add him to my list.

shysal Thu 01-Mar-18 10:21:53

People who tell me 'you want to do such and such'. No I don't!
Donald Trump
Vinegar
Garlic
Chillies
Olives
The taste of alcohol
Cherryade (tastes like my childhood medicine)
Housework
Mowing the lawn (but love to garden)
I agree with Granny23. Coat hangers are evil!smile
I also agree with many more of the above but too many to mention.

Mapleleaf Thu 01-Mar-18 10:38:38

Food wise, beetroot and black pudding. Haven't tried snails and can't say I will, either!!
In other respects, I agree with many others:
Loud music when out and about,
Litter louts,
Shouty, opinionated people,
Spitting
Bad manners
People who think they are superior
Disrespect for this wonderful planet of ours, and all the other life we share it with.
I could go on, I'm sure.

Witzend Thu 01-Mar-18 10:43:19

Cream
Meat fat - except for a little bit of VERY crispy bacon fat
Goat's cheese
Milk (to drink, don't mind a bit in coffee etc.)
Tea with milk - tastes vile to me
Egg white not properly cooked, including the layer on the yolk of fried eggs - yuck
Fennel
Anything over-sweet and sickly

Teetime Thu 01-Mar-18 11:51:46

Musicals esp Les Mis and the works of ALW
Rap, hip hop and all that
TV quiz shows except University Challenge and Mastermind
Violent films
Countryfile (used to love it its gone off).
Loose women and its kind
Talent shows

Eloethan Thu 01-Mar-18 14:41:32

vampirequeen I'm with you on the automatic messages and irritating music on company telephone lines - especially hearing "Your call is important to us" when, after hanging on for ages, it becomes patently obvious that my call is not at all important.

Violent and gory films - and the increasing nastiness and violence that is now so commonplace in "soaps".

Words like "snowflake" "virtue signalling", "champagne socialist" used to belittle others, and the term "humbled" which is now so frequently used

"Round robin" letters detailing major house projects, exotic holidays, children's achievements and the minutiae of the lives of friends and relatives who are unknown to the recipient.

The phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On"

People who tut and grumble when you ask them to move over so that you can sit down on the bus/tube.

I'm fairly easy about food, with the exception of Christmas dried dates (yuk!)

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Littlejohn, Jimmy Carr, Keith Lemon, Carole Malone, Edwina Currie, Margaret Thatcher

Lovely pieces of classical music being used on TV adverts/
TV adverts interrupting tense dramas

vampirequeen Thu 01-Mar-18 16:21:46

People who say useless things about my illness e.g. just look on the bright side of life instead of dwelling on the bad bits, smile more, take a deep breath, we all have days when we feel down, I had depression years ago but pulled myself together....the list goes on and on.
The nasty man who lives across the road from me.
My ex.
People who don't hold doors open when you're directly behind them so the door shuts in your face.
Fox hunting, badger baiting, dog fights and all other blood sports
Chitterlings/chitlins/chicklins, tripe, sweetbreads, cheeks, brawn and any other offal.
Shell fish well fish in general tbh other than chip shop battered cod or haddock.
Winston Churchill
Maggie and May
Aged pop/rock stars who won't retire and don't realise how ridiculous they look/sound.
Children's TV programmes that are actually just long adverts for the spin off goods.

varian Thu 01-Mar-18 17:59:11

Brexit, Brexit lies, the amount of airtime given to the Brexit liars by the Brexit Broadcasting Corporation

Thirdinline Thu 01-Mar-18 18:04:20

The only food hate I can think of is tarragon. Unfortunately it seems to find its way into loads of foods and dishes in restaurants, unannounced, these days.

Can anyone tell me what tripe tastes like? I’ve never tasted it, but remember the smell from childhood when my Nanna used to boil it seemingly all the livelong day, for my Grandpa’s tea (he loved it!). It surely can’t have tasted as bad as it smelt?

HootyMcOwlface Thu 01-Mar-18 18:04:42

Quite a lot actually, but the too two on my list are
Onions and nuts. Yuk yuk yuk

varian Thu 01-Mar-18 18:08:09

Onions!!! How can you cook anything without onions?
