Were they always?
Am I behind the times and everyone knows about this already?
From what I can make out this is a new thing.

Should some of us change our username?
Should we be much more guarded than we already are?

Where the hell can we get any privacy?

BlueBelle Thu 22-Feb-18 04:31:29

Oh dear yes VERY behind where have you been it’s been talked about at great length for months and months

Yes, as Bluebelle says. Sorry, can’t manage links with an iPad but if you out Facebook in the search box you should find it. We were all much more cautious for a while although I think some threads have become more personal again.

Nothing is private any more so I don't understand why some people blurt their lives out for anyone and everyone to see tbh. My DS told me there's a site where you can even look up a company, put the job title in and salaries came up, so no more bigging yourself up! It is a shame as especially on a site like this where peope come for help and support some things should be between "friends"

I hadn’t realised. Not happy at that idea. I come HERE, not FB. Will be considering my involvement on principal.

I’m fairly new on here, so I was aware of this, but I put a message up on posts that people should be careful as Gransnet is on FB and other social networking sites. Have a look at the bottom of the screen, the social sites are there.
I usually keep things vague, I recognised where a poster lives recently as I recognised the local shop she was speaking about, but although I was tempted I never mentioned it.

Gmelon
Posting on a public forum on the ' World Wide Web' can't be private , regardless of whether it's shared with other social media sites .

Yes I know everything is public on the Web.
It is a bit of a plea for at least exclusivity on Gransnet.
No unauthorised sharing on Facebook etc.

I would have thought it was common knowledge that FB and other platforms have GN comments,we have seen some paragraphs in Daily Media giving Grandparents thoughts about different topics which had been in the public interest.
If you put your name into google it will bring up your GN topics for all to see.
Only way to stay hidden nowadays is not to have the internet, and keep your username to yourself.
