My kitchen is VERY clean this morning but sadly not enough room for a table so we would all be standing. No animals - not in the kitchen!!!!!

Sitting patiently, staring at their food cupboard are 2 friendly dogs waiting for Mum to come away from GN and give them breakfast.
So after you've put the kettle on, could you do the honours ?

Right now, ours is full of DH doing the ironing.... I should add perhaps that he's in charge of the b&b side of things.

Oh this is a lovely thread gmelon, with all the differing sizes and sorts of kitchens. By the way, you were up very early! I love my kitchen, but tidy it isn't. I have loads of cupboard space, but they are full. I do try the one in one out theory, but it doesn't always work. I have the usual tea/coffee/sugar canisters, kettle, water filter jug, coffee maker at one end. then the sink and drainer, usually empty (I try), then comes a worktop space and a container for plastic recyclables (actimel bottles), then my cooker. Above here, under the hood, is a utensil rack. In the corner is one ceramic jar for wooden spoons etc, and in the opposite corner is another jar with stainless steel utensils. Further along is another worktop that has a few pens/pencils and a notebook. Cross over the kitchen, beyond the fridge, you will find the bread bin and toaster with chopping boards and knives. The fruit bowl lives in the kitchen table . Oh and also has a vase of daffodils this morning. But, please come in for a cuppa, all welcome and I'd be delighted to see you all. I'm afraid the cake tin is empty at the moment, but I could rustle up a few biscuits.

New kitchen here in the Gran flat , DD has been in « cleaning up , so I can't find the coffee machine , will tea do ?

My kitchen is old and tired now, doors chewed by puppies and quite cluttered. Lots of jars with spices and herbs and various oils, vinegar etc on shelves. No wall cupboards as its partially exposed stone. We are waiting to see how Brexit will affect us before investing in a new kitchen.

Right now it’s a tidy, uncluttered, calm space because the day has yet to get started. Had you asked me yesterday afternoon when I was mid-bakeathon, it would have been very different. Lots of lovely smells, the oven on, all my gadgets out, flour everywhere, the radio and the dishwasher both on.

I like uncluttered surfaces but I’m practical and wouldn’t hide the kettle away. Things are to hand, grouped together in obvious places. It’s a long thin kitchen diner and is only used for meals, no comfy sofa or TV, but it’s a nice room and I always like using it.

Please don't. I am still full of lurgy and I don't have any energy to clean up.

You'd be very welcome if you can wait for me to get dressed. The kitchen has a prevailing smell of maple syrup pancakes but is otherwise presentable. I would be grateful if you could stop at the shops on the way as the fridge is quite empty and the date on the milk is today!
We are of the every surface and cupboard full, not pristine but working brigade.

Well I'm not in my kitchen much so don't know why any GNers would want to go there either.

Very small but like gmelon nothing out on the bench tops except my kettle, bunch of daffodils and a well stocked fruit bowl . I can’t bear clutter. My saving grace is a large walk in pantry/larder which hides a multitude of sins .

Melon, I have friends who have totally clear worktops, if they offer you a cup of tea, they have to open a cupboard to get the kettle out, not only that but the cupboards are almost empty, how do they function?
My cupboards are full to bursting, mostly crockery, but there is food in them also, wedged between cups and saucers. Most of our meals are freshly made though so 2 fridges are also stuffed full.

Hate clutter. DH is a confirmed Clutter Bug.

I’ve been away for a couple of days and left him ‘in charge ‘ and grrrrr.....every surface is cluttered. ?????

My kitchen is fairly small, worktops need a sanding down and oiling, but that’s a Spring job, worktops have vintage stone utensil pots filled with, um , utensils, on them, they are old mincemeat pots, vintage scales, still in use, huge old glass sweetie jars have flour in them, old pottery pot has cooking salt in it, one wall has glass cupboards filled with vintage crockery, my mum would have called it old fashioned, but nowadays it’s Vintage, fairy lights are strung around the plate rack and Chinese lanterns are strung across the large mirror on the far wall.
if I was expecting Gransnet members all the crockery would be out and a smell of baking would be in the air, if you had all come last month my old cooker would have lent a smell of burning, however, it wasn’t me it was the cooker, Guv, honest!

Well, mine had a jolly good clean on Tuesday and it needed it, as GS had been here for a couple of days (surprising how much extra crockery and glassware are required to meet the needs of one small boy - the dishwasher was overflowing)i, so it is presentable at the moment. Though not unduly cluttered, there is always room for improvement on the “stuff” front. It’s not a ‘come in and sit down’ kitchen but all are welcome to poke their head around the door.

If you walked into my kitchen right now I would expect you to make me coffee (I am still in bed!). However you would find it clean and tidy - usual toaster, kettle etc. on the surfaces. In one corner is a basket containing clothes waiting to be ironed so if you could do that after you bring me my coffee that would be lovely!

If you walked in just now, you would see what I would call a "working" (but clean!!) kitchen. In fact the surfaces have been wiped so often with flash, they are staring to look dull). The breadmaker is cooling on the worktop, freshly made bread ready for 2 DGD's breakfast, processor, toaster, mixer, toaster on worktops.
DH's recycling is sitting on the worktop, waiting to go out as usual and DGD's cup, sitting waiting ready for her arrival. Her first words will be "Milk, fruit bread/pancakes, pleeeeese gran!"
The cupboards are jam packed with food, just in case , there is a seige/ war/storm/or we are snowed in , or I take to my bed [no chance of that]. (We live ten minutes from the nearest shops).
My dream is of a modern, minimilistic, pristine, clutter free kitchen. Not happening anytime soon, as hubby never puts dishes back in cupboard, just leaves them on surfaces, after emptying diswasher, waiting for me to put them away. It drives me mad.
We are having a utility room built in the summer. Hopefully, I will have more room then.

Given the time of day I'm posting please excuse the couple of bits in the dish drainer from last night. (a pet hate) There are the usual things such as tea, coffee, sugar jars, toaster, bread bin, scales on the worktops but otherwise it's clear. I always 'do' my kitchen as the first job of the day so if you come and you'd be very welcome, please arrive after 9.30 when it will be at it's best

All GN are welcome in my kitchen, anytime. It is warm and light and, currently, looking very lived in! The table is strewn with newspapers, there are probably a couple of cats on the window seats and there is the inevitable pile of post by the fruit bowl. On the work surface there are the usual machines- kettle, toaster, tassimo, mixer and a pot with wooden spoons etc, oil, salt and pepper, tea caddy, sugar caddy, jar with tbags, biscuit jar, cd player, Alexa and one of those light boxes you can use for messages - it would say 'welcome all!'

Mines tiny I doubt more than two of you would fit in. It looks tidy but actually it’s probably a health hazard the unit cupboards are looking shiny and they haven’t been polished I simply haven’t had the time or the inclination for a very long time. We’re thinking of replacing it in the near future, can wait till then to visit! The worktops clean and so are the utensils and crockery

There wouldn’t be room for many as our kitchen is tiny. jackyb has it just right. No matter the condition you would be welcome, if in relays. I try for tidiness, often fail, it’s usually clean so little risk of food poisoning. Worktop has the usual ‘stuff’, easier to have things to hand. As long as the door to the home for unruly plastic boxes stays closed cupboards are available for inspection. Come on in - two at s time .

Our kitchen is alternately chaotic and pristine. At the moment it's fairly presentable because DH cleaned up everywhere yesterday because he had a visitor. It's not how I would clean it though.

Having said that, I wouldn't care what it looked like because I would be delighted to have such lovely visitors, and I hope they are visiting me for myself and not my kitchen.

You'd better not come to mine then gmelon or you'll go into meltdown. It was brand new 3 or was it 4 years ago and within 2 weeks there was a chunk out of one of the worktops and the stainless? steel sink was all scratched.

It is totally cluttered with DS's 'health' products and DGC's cups, water bottles, lunch boxes etc as there is no room to hide them. I do have lots of cupboards but they are all full!! Sometimes things fall out when I open the doors though.

There is a dining area attached which is usually an epic to clear when we do use it ie Christmas, birthdays, special celebrations. Under the chairs are washing liquid, and fabric conditioner, bleach, soft drinks bottles, wine ... all bought on special offers. Trainers and shoes get dumped and washing basket and (full) clothes horse are permanent!

I won't go into more detail to preserve your sanity. On the plus side it is clean!!
