Now I really feel old!

Our son’s little boy asks him ( every day) to tell him about the olden days, so if DS is old, you can imagine we feel very old indeed.?

Actually, being vintage sounds better than old.?

How about being retro?

I’m too old to be retro, I’m certainly vintage.

Today, for the first time, someone offered me his seat on a bus. I know he was being kind and polite, but I can't deny it made me feel old, lol

Mauriherb that happened to me last week on the train and I felt just the same.

I agree lemongrove - perhaps I should change my name to VintageMeg it has a certain cachet to it.

My sewing box is in the cupboard with my name tag on it. As it’s over fifty years old I think it’s an antique. Does that sound better than vintage??

Sorry Pamelj1 it isn’t antique until it’s 100 years old! So I’m still Vintage...

Rubbish M0nica and Mauriherb I hope you accepted gracefully and allowed a young(er) man or woman to feel the little glow you get from doing a “good deed”.
I have been accepting seats for YEARS and am still (but only just) only in my 60’s.

Yes MawBroon I did accept gracefully and said thank you. It just hadn't happened before so I will look forward to similar acts of chivalry in the future

In my case the offer came from a man who looked nearly as old as me! I declined gracefully and thanked him because I was standing to be close to my DGD. Although she is 10 she is quite nervous about travelling on trains and I had insisted that she sit in the one empty seat, while I stood within view. I would have been out of view if I had accepted his seat. I am fit and healthy and did many years of commuting by train so am quite accustomed to it.

I also knew that at the next station, 15 minutes further on a lot of people would be getting off and I should be able to get a seat closer to DGD. In fact I got the seat next to her.

My daughter told me she was going to the menopause clinic , that made me feel very old .

My DH and two friends who feel we are very young for our ages, 68-70, were travelling on a crowded tube. It was quite embarrassing, as one person stood up to offer his seat and others followed. Eventually there were about 8 empty seats in our section! I suppose it was very commendable but A bit of a blow to our self esteem!

If I was a car, I wouldn't be old enough to be 'vintage' - I'd be 'classic' which doesn't sound too bad. Vintage cars were made between the two world wars, and veteran cars were those made before 1918.
