Do you?

I always carry some cash, - like you, about £20. Don't want to use cards for every little thing.

I usually use a card but I would hate to leave the house without at least some cash. Old habits die hard I suppose.

I carry cash but rarely use it. I only go to the cash machine once every couple of months.

What I find surprising is when someone pays by contacless card and doesn't want the receipt. The assistants always ask because so many don't want them. I check my statements every time.

If they don't carry any cash how do they pay for parking? Surely they don't use a card for very small transactions, like a packet of Polo mints, do they?

Just paid my window cleaner in cash. Tradesmen around here don't take cards much, as the mobile signal is unreliable.
Then I need coins in my purse for onstreet parking machines, and supermarket trollies, and the swimming pool lockers. People still pay bus fares in cash. If I'm leaving a tip in a restaurant, I prefer to do it in cash, so that it gets to the table staff. Apart from that, yes I suppose a card would cover most things, but I do like to have a few notes and coins in my purse too.

Don’t carry cash either and never take my purse or cards to work as don’t need money. Only exception is the small amount I keep in my cars ash tray just in case I run low on petroleum without realising it or need it for some other emergency. People here use cards for even small purchases and nobody minds.

I always carry cash, and pay for shopping etc with it. I get paid cash so no problem having it. I like to know how much I'm spending as I spend it, with a card I would be forever checking. I cannot remember the last time I used my bank card.
My son pays everything with his card, even car parking. Many times I get the "Mum can I borrow a couple quid" when he goes to play footie in the evening, although he is getting better at keeping some loose change around lol.

I keep an emergency £5 in my purse and £2 in change for car parks . I generally pay contactless - never take a receipt - and if not I pay by card.

I pay for car parking by phone/text.

Always have about twenty pounds in my purse but it might stay there for weeks. DH the same. My DC never seem to carry cash. The fortnightly refrain from DS when he comes down to the football is “Dad if we’re going for a pint, I’ve got no cash.” Reply is usually “You’re like the b****y Queen! She doesn’t carry cash either!”

I nearly always pay for things with my card but always carry cash for those small things like birthday cards, fruit and veg etc. My husband can have money in his wallet for weeks as he only pays for fuel and the groceries which he uses his card for. On the very odd occasion I've used contactless I always get the receipt so I can keep track of what I've spent.

I like to have £5 minimum in cash in my purse to pay for a cuppa or a small purchase. I always keep additional change for parking in the car.
Everything else is by card.

I tried to use cash when paying less than £2 for a cuppa and was asked to pay by card as they had no change!
A local phone shop does not take cash at all.
I automatically used my contactless card yesterday for a purchase of 99p....so much quicker than fumbling in your purse.

I carry some for bus fares (I wish they'd take contactless!) and keep some at home for the window cleaner.

I don't take receipts if it is offered as a choice as my purchases show almost immediately on a phone app.

Very little cash used here, but always keep a little on hand in case. Even window cleaner gets paid online.

Here all but one bus service no longer takes cash, TFL run most of our services. I always carry a certain ammount of cash for small purchases (newspaper, odd little treat etc.) but usually pay by card.

Germany is soooo technophobe. Credit cards are still regarded with scepticism. I get €300 out of the ATM about once a month. At the supermarket and petrol station I pay with debit or credit card, but the hairdresser and other services have to be paid in cash. Restaurant bills, cinema visits., entrance fees, small shopping outlays such as the baker's or the chemists, all paid in cash. It's not unusual for people to carry several hundred or even a thousand in their wallet here.

If I only had €20 left in cash, I would get to the ATM pretty sharp, as that wouldn't be enough for anything!
