Earthquake!

Oh dear. The earth didn’t move for you then PBB ?

Same here with my ancient Labradoodle, she was fast asleep, suddenly awoke and barked, ran to the patio window growling and tail between her legs, we let her out and she skulked about the garden clearly not happy.
In the eleven years we have had her we've never seen her behave like this, minutes later we heard that there had been an earthquake in Wales. We are in Leicestershire.

It was in the Swansea Valley, Cwmllynfell, it was felt in this town , I didn't notice it

It made my booze bottles jingle!

We had one in Norfolk a few years ago. I was in bed reading a book about the paranormal at 12.45at night. My whole bed shook and I was completely terrified.

We were in the garden when the earth trembled and shook, and the garage fell into a huge crack that opened up!

What earthquake? Sums up most of the ones that happen in Britain.Thank goodness.

The sofa I was sitting on gave a sort of wavy wobbled in the way I imagined a water bed might. Then again - a smaller wobble. A strange sensation. Clocked what it was with the news broadcast- and knew immediately it couldn’t have been anything else. ?

They say that animals are sensitive to earthquakes and can anticipate them. We had a nasty one just over a year ago, followed by aftershocks for several days. My clearly totally insensitive cat slept through the quake itself and remained completely unfazed for the rest of the week.

Yes I am sure animals are better at noticing earthquakes etc than us mortals .

I'm too far north and felt nothing at all. I remember the early house of Boxing Day in 1979. We were shaken awake, and a rumbling was heard, similar to thunder. Chimneys and tiles were brought down in Carlisle. Every light went on in the street and all the neighbours were on their doorsteps, or leaning out of their windows. It was quite an exciting thing to happen in Cumbria.

Hilda - my dad told me about that one after he came to visit us in Lancashire and felt one here a few years later. I never felt it though it was widely reported!

I didn't stand a chance of feeling this latest one as I had 5 grandchildren running round which is pretty much a permanent earthquake!

We live in south west Wales. The birds went absolutely mad for about five minutes. swooping and calling. We were gardening and didn't feel a thing.DD five miles away did though

My DS3 is in Mexico and was there for the last 2 earthquakes (the last one was just this week). On both occasions he found a computer quite quickly and sent an e-mail to us to reassure us that he had not been affected.

I didn't hear anything about the earthquake in Wales. Perhaps it was related to the one in Mexico. Or was it caused by fracking or geothermal digging?

We had one here in South Yorkshire a few years ago which woke us up and also caused some minor cracks in a cupboard and on the staircase. My husband was once in Japan when one struck - he said the whole bed was shaking and it seemed to go on for ages. Thankfully I don't think there was any damage that time.

I lived about 14 miles from the epicenter of the Boxing Day earthquake. We did not have any damage but all the ornaments and photo frames moved right back against the wall, or to the back of the dresser. It was a 9 days wonder indeed.
