We took a three year old to Bodnant today, fairies in the woods, we were told 15 minutes walk. Well try two hour round trip.
They had organised a long rambling walk through the woods, down to the dell and up again it was seriously steep for a small child. We came across parents and grandparents who had to let their little ones rest on the way there and back. What really annoyed me was when we arrived it cost £12 each for our tickets, the guy on the till was pushing membership hard at us, he never mentioned a workshop that was taking place which made fairy stones etc. So we finally got to the top to see some little fairy houses, on the way back our little man had really had enough, panic, we did not have a pushchair, we are not young enough for shoulder rides, so it was not easy. We met other parents and grandparents who were having the same problem.
Please don`t think we are being wimps, 14 mile walks up in the hills are fine for us, but for little ones the National Trust really do need to think before they organise things like this.
