I have been told that 'the pictures' is not used these days - it is 'the cinema'.

My daughter gets annoyed when I talk about wearing "posh frocks". Nothing like winding up a daughter. I don't think she quite gets the meanings we had about wearing our "posh frocks."

"Winching" was in common use when I was at school in Ayrshire. That was 60 years ago, so does that qualify it (or me) as 'old Scots'?

Not heard anyone say "jiggerypokery" for a long time. With the current situation with Oxfam et al, I think it's time for a comeback.

And "pinny" for apron seems to have vanished too.
And I always say "frock" too, Annie, nicer than dress.

I like 'frock' but haven't used that word for years. I might re-introduce it to the granddaughters! Another word came to mind recently, but I've forgotten it .....
