Megan Markle has been making secret visits to comfort the survivors of Grenfel Towers , just like Diana use to make secret visits !

OldMeg Wed 14-Feb-18 15:49:34

As are the majority of GNetters thankfully.

OldMeg Wed 14-Feb-18 15:48:46

Day 6 I’m surprised you consider some of the barbed and unkind posts in here as mere ‘opinion’. Most, indeed probably all, the people I know are more than capable of expressing their opinion without resorting to such vitriol.

Anniebach Wed 14-Feb-18 14:59:10

What on earth is cruel in saying the Windsors have a privileged life, and I think most here know the meaning of spiteful, your post was unkind = spiteful in your own opinion

Bridgeit Wed 14-Feb-18 14:19:10

By the way I’m not particularly a royalist, but I wish them well, It wouldn’t make my life any different if they were penniless & it’s great that they are involved with charities etc, I just don’t get the level of criticism that is levied at them .

Bridgeit Wed 14-Feb-18 14:14:04

Spitful = malicious, mean, nasty, cruel, unfriendly bitter, unkind, venomous, not quite the same meaning as having a different opinion ,all be it that that opinion could be spitefully worded.

Anniebach Wed 14-Feb-18 14:03:50

It is not spiteful to believe the Windsors have a privileged life , it is a posters opinion on that lifestyle , could be said it's spiteful to call someone with a different opinion spiteful

Bridgeit Wed 14-Feb-18 13:52:53

really, why is that then?

FlorenceN Wed 14-Feb-18 13:45:44

Bored now.

Bridgeit Wed 14-Feb-18 13:44:07

Well let’s just think about this scenario, what would you who are so critical do IF you had been born a royal or to a well off family, would you hide away, give it away ,do away with your self because you felt so bad about being wealthy, not give a damn & spend loads & enjoy yourself. If we didn’t have a royal family & had a president instead do you think that would cost less or that it would ‘t cost anything to run a Presidency etc , yes it’s an unfair world, & in this country compared to a third world country we are wealthy beyond belief, we all commenting here have computers that allow us all to pontificate about others. Please do not be so spiteful about what you term a ‘ privileged life’ these royals do actually care & get involved , what else do you expect them to do ?They can’t be unborn !

FlorenceN Wed 14-Feb-18 13:16:00

If you had taken the time to read my post correctly, you would have seen the bit where I said I wasn't singling her out, it's the entire institution I was talking about. Y'know the bit where I said 'I'm not singling her out' may have been a clue? No? I'm very interested in this -ism you speak of, I'm not clear what you mean? The RF mean nothing to me, I gave an opinion, like it, lump it, it's my opinion <shrug>

AmMaz Wed 14-Feb-18 13:10:22

....it's reverse snobbery, but it's still snobbery.

AmMaz Wed 14-Feb-18 13:06:35

FlorenceN,how dismissive you are of this human being based on her having more money than most of us. Now, let me think, what kind of -ism does this bigotry come under? Reverse it - Are we as free to hold poor people in such contempt do you think?

Anniebach Wed 14-Feb-18 12:24:34

I think this was the K.P. PR machine at work, using a woman who has been dead 20 years to sell Megan to the public, it has worked by the aaaahs expressed. The woman should be left to make her own way in public life , she is more than capable given her record of charity work. She doesn't need to be sold as - the new Diana.

gillybob Wed 14-Feb-18 12:16:54

I know someone who. “Served” at the same time as him Iam64 .

Anniebach Wed 14-Feb-18 12:15:59

The links were to the newspapers which reported it, you said "we wouldn't have known if Annie hadn't told us" did you not Durhamjen?

Do not make yet another personal dig please.

durhamjen Wed 14-Feb-18 12:04:32

No, you were the one who put those links on.
That's the truth, isn't it?
Or will you deny that as well?

Iam64 Wed 14-Feb-18 12:03:19

It’s a Real Job so far as Harry is concerned. He didn’t choose to do it, it’s his for life whether he wants it or not, resignation isn’t an option. He served in Afghanistan and is said to have been upset when his location was made known. It meant the risk to his comrades increased so he had to return to the UK. His work with the Invectmus games and other charities goes alongside his duties as a royal.
I’m not some kind of sycophant as some here accuse 5ose who aren’t expressing anger but accept we remain a country with a monarchy.

gillybob Wed 14-Feb-18 11:54:35

He could always opt out and get a real job you know Jaycee5

Anniebach Wed 14-Feb-18 11:47:03

And in the Telegraph Margaret, strange how the press got the story on the same day.

Anniebach Wed 14-Feb-18 11:44:01

I am the only poster who reads the newspapers according to Durhamjen

gillybob Wed 14-Feb-18 11:33:29

I wouldn’t have liked a ring with so much sadness surrounding it . Okay so it was his mother’s and I don’t doubt its both beautiful and very valuable too but it wasn’t originally given in “love” as it should have been and does it even really belong to Kate ?

Having said that I have been married 3 times and haven’t had an engagement ring at all . Would love to have one though .

Milly Wed 14-Feb-18 11:23:32

I was interested in what you said Gillybob, I always think there she is in her second hand ring!! I wonder if she would have preferred to choose her own.

gillybob Wed 14-Feb-18 11:04:13

a hard working young man

I think I must have my threads mixed up wildswan ?

Surely you can’t be talking about prince Harry? confused

Jayh Wed 14-Feb-18 10:58:00

I am a bit saddened by the lack of compassion in some the the posts on this thread. There have been some recent threads on GN where posters have shared heart breaking experiences and Gnetters have been wonderful in sending support and love. And yet.... here we are.
A young boy loses his mother but because he is “privileged “ it doesn’t count? As a young man he falls in love and we get “Here we go again. A new Diana.”
I prefer to clutch my pearls over the real evils in this world. The abuse of my donations to a well known charity for example.

Jaycee5 Wed 14-Feb-18 10:06:06

wildswan16 Totally agree. I am not a royalist but I doubt that Harry would have chosen to be a royal and people here have a choice between being kind and welcoming and being spiteful and judgmental. She has done little wrong but people enjoy looking for fault.
