Megan Markle has been making secret visits to comfort the survivors of Grenfel Towers , just like Diana use to make secret visits !

grin bagged fish.

FlorenceN Tue 13-Feb-18 17:48:22

Lol!!! Multi tasking gone wrong!!

Bridgeit Tue 13-Feb-18 17:57:24

If indeed it is a case of :- Here we go again a new Diane. Let’s just hope the fickle general public of Great Britain have learnt a lesson. Perhaps they will have learnt not to idolise someone, put them on a pedestal & then knock them down.,
What is wrong with some of you GNs? I can only assume that that your harsh judgements are just pure spite & jealously , If the Royal Family disappeared tomorrow your own lives would be , well just the same as they are today, except you would have to find someone else to vent your spleens on . Love them or not they were born into their lives just as you were born into yours . Perhaps some of you who despise them so much could spend some time helping someone less fortunate than you are, because that’s something you can be certain of there always will be! Wither we like it or not!

FlorenceN Tue 13-Feb-18 18:09:46

Neither spite nor jealousy here. Can't speak for anyone else, obviously.

I started this thread with a question asked on the paper reviews last night, I have been accused of deliberately starting it to vent spleen, I will not take the blame for what others post
Sometimes threads take on a life of their own anniebach. I'm sure you started it in good faith. In fact, if anyone bothers to read it properly they will realise that you didn't say she was like Diana just that she has made secret visits just like Diana.

It would presumably have remained a secret but someone decided to spill the beans eg I only told my friend and she promised not to tell anyone else etc.

What kind of fish Florence - was it tasty?

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 18:29:24

One resident said: “It means so much.”
As long as she made at least one person happier - and look at those children clinging on to her
smile

Bridgeit Tue 13-Feb-18 18:39:16

I think it was the exclamation mark at the end of the OP
that turned it into a criticism.

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 18:40:46

Thank you Jalima, I have posted links to some of the papers,
it is the papers who bring Diana into it, and in my opinion to have reached all papers in the same day it came from KP

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 18:44:08

An exclamation mark equals a criticism? Another must make sure every I is dotted poster Bridgeit ?

durhamjen Tue 13-Feb-18 18:48:26

Calling her a new Diana wasn't criticism, then, particularly as you criticise Diana all the time, Annie?
That's okay, then.

FlorenceN Tue 13-Feb-18 18:51:08

Jalima, it was delicious!! Sea bass....what a treat! The fish bagged separately in the freezer is lemon sole for my friend.

GabriellaG Tue 13-Feb-18 19:01:43

If anyone here thinks the remarks on this thread are harsh or spiteful...blah blah, then let me assure you that they're as nothing compared to those on the MailOnline forum every time an article about MM surfaces.

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 19:02:01

I like both!

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 19:02:51

Let's hope she doesn't read them or else she will be scarpering back to America if she has any sense.

FlorenceN Tue 13-Feb-18 19:09:26

Well, Jalima, if your anywhere near Glasgow, you'd be more than welcome to pop in for a fish supper

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 19:09:57

Thanks very much, but I couldn't be much further away grin

GabriellaG Tue 13-Feb-18 19:15:45

I simply think that it is hypocritical to be be a practicing Catholic then change your religion to marry a Jewish guy and now 'inducted' into the CoE.
It's not like changing your hair colour...
I thought that any religion was a deeply held belief that influenced your way of life and moral stance, certainly not shrugged off like a badly fitting coat in order to wear something new.
I see that I was wrong.
Shades of Henry V111?

Christinefrance Tue 13-Feb-18 19:16:31

Another case of damned if you do and damned if you don't. Give the woman a chance, its a huge life style change for her. Before anyone leaps in to comment in wealth and status, I for one would not want to live my life in a goldfish bowl with my every move open to criticism. We at least have privacy and are free from the constraints of public duty. Meghan has chosen this life certainly but it's not going to be roses all the way.

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 19:34:15

Well, she could just become a 'lady who lunches' become a fashion 'clothes horse' and do absolutely nothing at all.

I've never wanted to be a lady who lunches; I've always wanted to be a woman who works
Women need a seat at the table, they need an invitation to be seated there, and in some cases, where this is not available, they need to create their own table. We need a global understanding that we cannot implement change effectively without women's political participation.^(International Women's Day, 2015.)

If one is a Christian they are or should be accepted as a Christian regardless if they choose to follow their faith through Cof E,Catholic, Baptist ,Methodist,Born again etc etc. It is the same faith, just a different set of practices with one common factor.
Example: wine is wine , some like red, some white, some rose’ it’s still just wine.

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 20:02:40

I agree Bridgeit, but how does one move from believing Christ is the son of God to a faith which doesn't share this belief then back to the Christian faith,

Day6 Tue 13-Feb-18 20:05:16

Diana was a one-off, unique amongst royalty and shook them up. She did those things with a true sense of compassion I think. None before her had bothered.

Markle brings comfort to Grenfell survivors? Really? A little known American actress until fairly recently gives succour to those who survived a fire in June last year?

It all smacks of dodgy PR to me.

Day6 Tue 13-Feb-18 20:18:08

Old Meg - "What on earth has this thread unleashed?"

Opinions?

We are not auditioning for a place in a convent.

Bridgeit Tue 13-Feb-18 20:20:29

Princes Anne(for one) & other royals, have spent years involved with charities, but did not appeal to the general public in the same way as Diane did, whilst Diane did have a natural gift that people loved ,others did not, she was very natural , she also knew how to play it.
I think MM comes across as more open & straight forward person.
