Megan Markle has been making secret visits to comfort the survivors of Grenfel Towers , just like Diana use to make secret visits !

marionk Tue 13-Feb-18 11:03:29

Diana didn’t win all the hearts of the country!

Jaycee5 Tue 13-Feb-18 11:01:49

She has done this kind of thing for years. It is one of the things that they have in common.
Some people have decided not to like her whatever she does. She didn't publicise it.

FlorenceN Tue 13-Feb-18 11:01:41

Just for the record, I'm not jealous at all. It just all seems rather patronising to me.

eazybee Tue 13-Feb-18 10:59:38

Some truly unpleasant comments.
Possibly a resident who was visited released the news.

Fennel Tue 13-Feb-18 10:58:51

I'm not denigrating what Megan is doing, it must come from her heart.
But I thought from the start of the romance that because Harry is so open about his love for his mother, he would want to marry someone who is similar to her. Many men do that.

OldMeg Tue 13-Feb-18 10:58:03

Well said Iam64 and shame on the sneering, miserable old biddies who can’t wait to twist the knife.

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 10:55:05

It was discussed in the newspaper reviews last night Merlot, so must be in the press today.

merlotgran Tue 13-Feb-18 10:33:58

How do you know about these visits, Anniebach?

Coco51 Tue 13-Feb-18 10:32:16

The negative comments here are diappointing: she didn’t HAVE to visit these unfortunate people and if the media were told it would all develop into a three-ring circus. Then I dare say people would say she was doing it for the publicity!

sunseeker Tue 13-Feb-18 10:30:45

Really radicalgran you know that she "loves slumming". As I recall she doesn't come from a privileged background, she has been involved in charity work for many years (before she met Harry), and yet because she fell in love with a man from a privileged background you feel is it OK to denigrate what she does. I agree with others, let's give her a chance

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 10:29:10

Diana had an eating disorder before she married a Windsor,

sarahellenwhitney Tue 13-Feb-18 10:27:49

Anniebach, Yes.

littleflo Tue 13-Feb-18 10:26:35

I think it depends who released the information to the media. If it was someone present at the time rather than the Palace PR, then it puts a different light on it.

I agree the Royals often can’t win. I do think this new generation of Royals are trying hard.

Kim19 Tue 13-Feb-18 10:25:35

Do we know who let the 'secret' out?

whitewave Tue 13-Feb-18 10:24:14

What iam64 said.

I am a republican, but the system is what it is.

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 10:22:27

But Diana won the hearts of some in the country and left a trail of hurt and betrayal behind her

ajanela Tue 13-Feb-18 10:21:01

Let's be positive. What they tell us about her she has a history of being involved and is not just an actress. She is making a big effort to be part of her furture husband's life, country and charities. Adopting his religion and now meeting the people. Harry has shown he cares with his involvement with Help for Heroes and other charities. I am sure the service man who has lost both legs appreciates Harry's support even if he can still walk.

If they just stayed home and socialised she would be criticised for taking him away from his Royal duties. As his wife she will be expected to take on some charities and how can she do this if she doesn't find out what is happening

Would you be so negative if she was a Princess or from another royal family?

I hope she is not discouraged by this sceptical attitude from people. I also think we must make her feel welcome in our country or Harry will be gone and the wonderful bond between 2 brothers damaged.

sweetcakes Tue 13-Feb-18 10:20:39

Give the girl a chance if she proves you right then you can rip her to shreds till then leave her alone. As for fergie she was her own worst enemy wasn't she and still is.

Iam64 Tue 13-Feb-18 10:20:25

It’s beyond me why some women seem to delight in sneering at, making very unpleasant comments about other women. This young woman had a successful career, she’d done humanitarian work. She is trying to forge a role in her new life. I do hope she doesn’t suffer the same fate as Diana. She seems a more resilient character than 19 year old and far from worldly wise Diana was when she developed an eating disorder as a consequence of the way she was treated.

Theoddbird Tue 13-Feb-18 10:19:40

So many cynical comments here. Can this woman do no right in your eyes. Leave her alone. She is trying hard to find her place here. It took Diana a long time but eventually she won the hearts of the country. Let her find her way with criticising all the time. Rant over.

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 10:16:57

jealousy of what ?

radicalnan Tue 13-Feb-18 10:16:26

What has happened to the millions donated to the victims, why are they still sitting in B&B?????

Never mind Meggy they need an account round there asap.

She is another bore trying to gain what money alone can't buy her that feeling superiority to others..........

No wonder her wedding parade is going past the charity shops in Windsor...........she loves slumming they all do makes them feel virtuous.

Marieeliz Tue 13-Feb-18 10:15:23

Quite so Bridgeit, quite a nasty lot on here sometimes. Jealousy comes to mind.

Blinko Tue 13-Feb-18 10:15:01

Quite agree, Bridgeit. Seems she won't be able to do right for doing wrong in some people's eyes.

Anniebach Tue 13-Feb-18 10:14:16

Kate had better watch her back, think how Diana stabbed poor old fergie.
