My urologist advised me to drink only decaffeinated tea, so for the past year we have had two containers of tea in the cupboard, one for me, one for him. Despite my misgivings I was pleasantly surprised to find that I honestly could not tell the difference.
So with that in mind, I thought about suggesting DH switches to the decaf as well. Now if you knew my DH you would know that the suggestion would not be received in good humour. He is what you might call a bit fussy when it comes to what passes his lips. So.... without telling him, when I was making a brew I started using the decaf for him as well to see if there was a reaction. As I expected, he appeared not to notice. I kept this up for about two weeks, and then one day I said "why don't you switch to decaf too? It would make sense - and it really doesn't taste any different." But oh no, he knew he wouldn't like them, definitely not for him. So I then told him that he'd actually been drinking it for the past two weeks - had he honestly noticed any difference? No, he admitted, he hadn't and happily agreed to switch.
A couple of weeks later I found a pack of the ordinary stuff in the cupboard - he'd bought it because he "really didn't like the decaf tea"
. I still make his using decaf now and then and he still doesn't notice.
Honestly! What would you do with him?
