Not quite the same thing, but I have devised a useful improvement.
We bought adjustable beds, but they bring you forward when you sit up, and put the bedside cabinet out of reach.
I got my sil to cut me a piece of board which fits on the inside rim of the top drawer. (Could have done it myself, but didn't have a saw!)
Two strips of beading underneath hold it steady, and it's perfect to hold cups of tea etc.
I use the drawer for medicines which are best kept out of sight, till the lid is lifted.
