Things within easy reach

We need three remotes to control our television, humax box and sound bar, and also have one for DVD. Our daughters helpfully got us a box to keep them all in, but we really need one on wheels, as it sits in the centre of the table between us, just out of reach for both of us.
Having described this, I've realised I should do something about it.

In passing, why are all remote controls black? It would be so much easier to pick the right one if they were different colours.

I don't have anything near an armchair because I don't sit in an armchair. However, my kettle, teabags and cups are all right near each other in the kitchen so I can make a cup of tea without moving my feet.

Except for the milk which comes out of the fridge, but it's only a small kitchen anyway.

Shelf underneath has al” my favourite magazine# and a few books that I am reading. Got 2 on the go at the moment.

Convenience. I have a large toiletries holdall containing, paracetamol, small bottle of water , inhaler for asthma ,a kindle with charger, a phone with charger , tissues, bar of chocolate This stays by the armchair and comes with me when I go to bed.

I have all the things mentioned, plus by my chair assorted medications.

In the drawer of my side table I keep pens/pencils, magnifying glass, hand cream, comb for the cat, nail file and scissors - hidden away in a tidy fashion.
My bedside table is quite another matter - lamp, phone chargers, pen/pencil, car and house keys, photo of late DH, his old mobile, small cat ornament, nail scissors and my hearing aid box - what a mess.

I have at the moment current mug I am drinking from, 2 pairs of glasses, remote controls for television and stereo ( currently listening to music) , newspapers and kindle, pencil case, and mobile phone. I do get up doing things regularly but like things close by when I am sat down.

I can not even start saying what is on DH's table-a lot of is stuff that I have no clue what it is actually FOR! All computer/ gadget stuff.

I don’t think anyone has mentioned my essentials - tweezers and a small mirror. I always seem to find that annoying little hair when I am relaxing, watching tv or reading.

It's not being lazy! It's being efficient!
Good point about needing to get up every so often and move about as we get older though.
I'm thinking of setting a timer to jog me into action for when I take root at the computer. Sometimes the morning has gone before I know it. Crikey! Is that the time now........

I'm with Jane10, I need the exercise that walking about fetching and finding things offers. Also, I am OCD and clutter would send me into an anxious tailspin.

Mine's not so much coffee table as I rarely sit on the settee so there's only coasters & remote controls.

I sit at my dinning table most of the time, easier to get off the chair. I have laptop next to me, newspapers (love doing crosswords & sudoku), coasters, glass of water for pills, remains of this morning's fruit juice, mug of coffee, post to deal with, fruit bowl, box of tissues, pens & notepad also testing kit for my blood sugar, sunglasses & fingerless gloves, electronic crossword solver & calculator.

I'm not a "tidy" freak, as there is only me now it doesn't matter but I can soon clear table if I have visitors,

Oh I forgot empty glasses case. Glasses needed or reading & laptop. I don't sit for long periods as I'm in the garden if weather is nice (like today, very sunny 0c outside) or doing housework generally faffing around

Phew......glad it isn't just me. I sit and sew in front of the TV. It works for me as some of the programs hubby chooses to watch aren't my choice. I get to watch mine during the day when he is out. I have a magazine rack, sewing boxes, yarn, crochet hooks, knitting needles, pencils.....
I have a veritable nest around me.....a tidy nest but everything to hand....it works and suits.

I 'fall short' in other areas but I never aim for perfection, just happy to do my own thing. ☺

I have a box of tissues and handcream next to every seat I use - including the dining room.
In the sitting room, I have my knitting, and I usually walk about clutching what I shall be needing - phone, iPad, cuppa tea, book...
Simple things really.

Yes, everything is brought into our easy reach but I like to think that I'm so busy when I'm not relaxing on the sofa that I genuinely want to be able to sit without having to get up and down all the time. If I sat from dawn till dusk I'd be worried.

I'm totally with Jane10 on this. If I had my immediate needs around me I might become mounded into the chair! Also a huge thank you to WilmaK for the reminder that Spring is underway. What a lovely thought! It's a beautiful sunny day here but currently minus 7. Right now I'm keeping warm in my bedroom whilst plasterers are making my kitchen and lounge ceilings attractive. I just hate having workmen in even although they are likeable lads and the end result will be a long awaited bonus. Roll on teatime.

Nothing. My mobile or tablet are usually in the kitchen but I don't cart them with me everywhere I go and I only have a plant and couple of silver framed photos on a coffee table. I hate 'old lady clutter. Don't need tissues and not on pills so all is clear. Any paperwork is in my desk in the study.
