Greetings - all right?

I would probably just say "good evening" but do wonder what their response would be if you replied "No".

I say 'fine thanks'

PS I've found that Hello or Hi work everywhere. I even get a grunt from a teenager who joins me sometimes at my early morning bus stop. It has taken a few attempts over several weeks but I think he's now realised I'm harmless, reading the paper on my phone and my quiet Hi is just shorthand for "Good morning fellow human".

The 'correct' response is what you would normally say to a casual, passing in the street greeting. Your usual Good Evening is fine.

I love a Lancs greeting that I don't get up here: Eyup! ?

"Yeah, awrigh, you OK?" could be the correct response under such circumstances.

Or "Cushty!"

Just stick with your tried and tested "Fine and you?" ?

The carers would often say 'you all right' to my dad.
Depending how he felt would a answer
'No I'm all left and you?'
Or ' No actually I'm all wrong'

I say "alright?" I usually don't realise until afterwards, and often wonder myself what the response should be.

I think it's "Yeh mate. You?"

I'm with you on this Maw, it sounds awful doesn't it? My hairdresser, who is a lovely lass in every other respect, always says "Y'all riiight? " Makes my teeth itch.
