What do they do?

For the last three days some men have been replacing drains in our garden. We offered coffee when they arrived but they said they had their own, we suggested that they ask if they want anything, they haven't. What do they do when they need the loo? Other people doing jobs have been the same. What am I missing?

Anyone noticed the bottles of wee, on the sides of roads, discarded by lorry drivers? Just hope no unsuspecting person thinks it’s Lucozade!!?

Well if there is a local pub nearby I am sure they use that.
Though not supposed to drink other then a lemonade or a shandy. ? I suppose.
Shandy haven’t had one for years.

When I was having my loft conversion, the builders rarely asked to use my toilet, so it was obvious they were peeing elsewhere between times. One day I went out of the front door and felt a warm trickle down my neck. Looked up and it was one of the builders emptying their pee bucket into the roof gutter - and it had unfortunately splashed over the edge!

No local pub Sheilasue they never left the premises but did go back and forth to their van.

grin
No problem here (France). Many times I've offered use of our downstairs toilet but they reply they prefer to go round to the field at the back of the house.
When out driving it's common to see men relieving themselves discreetly at the roadside.
I sometime wish I could do the same.

I've found the same thing. I think they pee in the garden and for anything else they drive down the road to Tesco.

nonnie. I think buddleias like being hard pruned. They flower on this year’s growth too so you should get a good display.

Do you really want to know???

If perchance you visit a' country' town in India, you will see men urinating anywhere. You can smell the spots a mile away.

Busses en route will stop a designated places, for men, women just have to suffer and cork it,

Such an unequal society, but I have it I'm my DNA now.

My DD has just had a new patio built - the workmen brought their own portaloo - I often see them round here when work’s being done.

My son lorry driver and company he works for will not allow drivers to use customer toilet even if customer offers. He uses McDonalds, pub or supermarket in between drops. He always goes as soon as he gets home.

As my user name indicates, I was a teacher until recently. I always seemed to teach in a classroom a long way from the staff room and toilet (in a large Secondary School). With only 15 minutes at break time and 30 minutes at lunch time when I also had to prepare for the next lesson, I was able to go from about 7.00 am to 3.30pm without needed the toilet!

The roofer who was working here last week had a mini caravan type loo in the back of his van with the chemicals in it to stop smells! I hasten to add that I did not go and inspect it!

Not only India, surely, Glasgow used to stink of pee!

Lots of men do use a bottle to pee in if working where there isn't a transportable toilet shed put up for them, which a lot of companies here and in Germany automatically do. Others do use a convenient bush or hedge or go round the back of something or other.

I think a lot of workmen hesitate these days to ask if they may come in to use our toilets as they are afraid of being blamed if anything goes missing.

Perhaps I should have suggested they use the compost bin!

MissAdventure Thu 01-Feb-18 14:14:43

Maybe we could compile a survey, multiple choice.
A. in my van
B. in a public toilet
C. in a bush
D. in my flask
E. in somebody else's flask

I used to work with a girl in an office who'd once been in the Army. She said that she'd had to train herself in various situations not to go but now with her cushier job she still just couldn't go during the day at all - I used to wonder about her willpower and her health. Surely it's not good to ignore the call of nature?

ReadyMeals Thu 01-Feb-18 16:24:52

Oh on TV once they had a documentary about bad tradesmen. One plumber was filmed peeing in the cold water tank! If they hadn't hidden a camera (which they did because he had already been accused of being a "cowboy" ) someone would have bathed in that pee.

Slightly at a tangent - I was wondering last night how space ship crews manage. (How did I get onto that?)
I think I read they had containers in their suits and when full threw them out into space.
Is that correct?

Compost heap + urine = good stuff.

We overlook school grounds. Recently we were treated to the sight of a series of workmen in high viz jackets weeing behind the shed at the children's allotments. The angle of the shed in relation to our flats meant that they were in full view of us. How nice for the children. confused

I’ve seen my gardener surreptitiously disappear behind garden shed before now. I’ve also had to be discreetly creative at a stables that had no loo.

Camelotclub Thu 01-Feb-18 19:56:09

Or they pee into a large drink bottle (like Coca Cola 2 litre ones). Lorry drivers chuck it out of the cab on motorways and A road. Cleaning gangs call it 'Driver Tizer'.

Camelotclub Thu 01-Feb-18 19:57:36

No lovebeige, it's not good to hold it in. That way lies cystitis and other bladder ailments.

BlueBelle Thu 01-Feb-18 20:58:45

I have wondered that too my tree surgeons were here from 8 till 4 or 5 and never asked to go I presumed they had a bottle in the back of the van as they had plenty of tea
I certainly can’t train myself to go many hours I was once sitting on the aisle seat of a long haul flight The two Chinese men who sat inside never asked me to move in the 13 hour flight

Legs55 Thu 01-Feb-18 21:28:43

I had wall insulation fitted last year & new gas boiler this week, all the tradesman asked if they could use my loosmile
