Exactly Monica in fact a friend of ours who has recently retired from his job as a GP told us that he saw many, many older (usually women )who are depressed by thoughts of tragic events both here and around the world, awful wars, accidents, cruelty and neglect and crushing poverty in some countries. They were almost sleepless as a result, and downcast during the day.
He asked them if they had worried like this in their forties and even fifties, and most said no, it was in retirement.
In other words, it was a mix of more time on their hands,
AC left home and maybe moved away and a sense of the clock ticking and impending doom.
We cannot and should not dwell on the ills of the world.
You are right Annsixty we can think about those affected,
But not so much that it affects our well being.
News comes at us all the time now, in a way that it didn’t 30 years ago, and IMHO has a detrimental affect quite often.
There are things we can do ( support a charity which helps the homeless ) or a charity which helps anything that bothers us anywhere in the world, it’s the fruitless worrying that is bad for us.
