We’re a bit ahead in time here and I’ve just made OH tea. Lamb chops, mixed salad leaves, beetroot and home made coleslaw. I’m going to have kippers on toast later. Sometimes both of us struggle for ideas so what are you folks planning to eat tonight ?

Oh Dear. I am throwing a couple of ready meals into the oven tonight for my partner and I.
I have a dreadful cold, and quite frankly this is as much as I want to do culinary wise.
Nannylovesshopping.
Years ago, I attended a buffet where they served an orange jelly which had lots of raw grated carrot in it. Despite my apprehension, it was delicious served with a savoury salad.
Worth a try.

We don't eat much at night - main meal at lunchtime.
I do feel peckish though and usually have something on toast, followed by a yoghurt.

Baggs Wed 24-Jan-18 17:28:06

Pasta carbonara.

Yesterday's cottage pie reheated with baked beans added for DH. I'm having a trout fillet.
Followed by strawberry cobbler, slightly warm.

Devilled kidneys on a bed of sesame noodles made by my own fair hand. Followed by strawberries, Greek yogurt and a shaving of chocolate.

We had our main meal at lunch time. This evening we will have mackerel pate and toast.

I plan my menus a week at a time and adjust if necessary. I really couldn't cope with having to think about what to eat every day, then realise that I haven't got a key ingredient then have to either go out and shop for it or replan the menu, find I haven't got a key...................................

I write out a weeks worth of menus and shop accordingly once a week.
Tonight we are having roasted veg lasagne and one of our grandchildren is having spag bol as he doesn’t like lasagne.
Oh, and garlic bread, by request!

I’ve made a recipe out of a leaflet thar came in the paper. It’s mainly chicken and veg top with potato/sweet potato mash. Hope it tastes ok.

We are having home made chilli with lots of onion, garlic and home grown chillies.

Liz46 Wed 24-Jan-18 15:28:27

cavewoman, I must give that a go. My OH makes Jamie's chicken vindaloo which is good and very similar to the vindaloo in Goa. It is tasty rather than fierce and seems authentic to me.

Chicken breasts stuffed with sweet chilli cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Only because the cheese needed using up and got fed up of having it on crackers at lunchtime!

VIOLETTE You didn't eat the cats food, did you? grin

Jamie's Gurkha Chicken Curry. It's been marinating overnight ready to cook in oven later. This is the only Oliver recipe that's ever worked for me and beats all other curries.

Last week I made a batch of "mince" [ cooked with carrots, onions and oxo] and froze it, so tonight we'll be having one of the tubs of mince with some dumplings, green beans and leeks -yum. Love having home made meals in freezer that we can have with lots of fresh veg. I really hate waste so will use up extra veg in soups. I've thrown out food in the past so at the beginning of this year I bought an extra diary to help to plan meals for week. So far ..... hmm

womblekelly Wed 24-Jan-18 15:06:22

I menu plan for the week so tonight bang bang chicken and then tomorrow haggis etc as it’s burns night

Blue45Sapphire Wed 24-Jan-18 14:49:12

Home made beef burgers in a bun with fried onions and a few fries on the side. I usually decide the day before as I normally have to get things out of the freezer to thaw. For instance I have just got some chicken thighs out for tomorrow as we are having chicken tikka.

VIOLETTE Wed 24-Jan-18 14:32:01

Lamb stew (made a huge batch and froze several portions !) crusty bread, maybe something lemony for pud .....should really use up the home made tomato sauce from yesterday ....I used the quantity I needed for last night's dinner and put the rest in a bowl covered with foil to cool before freezing ....my husband (who has Parkinson's with vascular dementia) went into the kitchen to fee the cats (their dinner on side, covered with saucers in their bowls !) .....guess what ....when I went to get the tomato sauce to put in the fridge prior to freezing .....there was only a spoonful left ....'What have you done with my tomato sauce' I asked him ......then I saw it ...............yes he had fed the cats a bowl of tomato sauce each and their dinners were still on the side covered up .........................needless to say they were looking extremely puzzled (not to mention hungry !) ......oh dear just another day with the PD bless him ! grin

I cook in bulk and freeze so tonight Aubergine bake for me and chicken curry and rice for H and DS..always know the night before or early a.m what we are having..think most of us in Lancashire say 'tea' but if friends are coming I tend to get posh and say dinner ?

EllenT Wed 24-Jan-18 14:11:06

Haddock on top of spinach, covered with cheese sauce then baked. Mash on the side, pate and toast before or after. Trying to eat less meat but tend to run out of ideas for things which DH considers a proper meal....

Kim19 Wed 24-Jan-18 14:06:45

Chicken casserole with dumplings for me. Straight from Tesco bargain shelf.

grandtanteJE65 Wed 24-Jan-18 13:59:18

meat balls and boiled cabbage in white sauce

sweetcakes Wed 24-Jan-18 13:57:00

Korean chicken stew with rice. A tesco recipe and very nice it is too?

tanith Wed 24-Jan-18 13:43:24

Beef stew in the the slow cooker full of tasty veg and a little beef ?

Patsy70 Wed 24-Jan-18 13:32:33

You're making me hungry! I usually decide either the night before or in the morning. As OH has a sore throat I've put lots of veg in the slow cooker and will blitz for soup, with home made bread!

NanaPlenty Wed 24-Jan-18 13:24:25

Home made beef and vegetable chilli with rice.
