We’re a bit ahead in time here and I’ve just made OH tea. Lamb chops, mixed salad leaves, beetroot and home made coleslaw. I’m going to have kippers on toast later. Sometimes both of us struggle for ideas so what are you folks planning to eat tonight ?
Thanks Maw whitewave that's how Nigella claims to have lost all that weight - but then again, we don't know how much she drank
I like a glass (sometimes two) with a meal, rarely drink otherwise. I was rather shocked when I went out yesterday for a pub lunch with friends - my friends all had a lager and I had a soft drink because I was driving. My soft drink was far more expensive than their lager.
I am as usual trying to lose weight and went onto the nhs diet site and stumbled across the cutting down drinking site. The amount of calories I am consuming over the year by having just 1 glass of largish red a day was enormous, so I haven’t had any for 2 days now
As I did some gardening today I pulled some beetroot and we had roast beetroot with red onions and garlic (with a couple of sausages and mash thrown in).
Liver, bacon and onions in a rich gravy, with mashed potato and cabbage. We like to have it with piccalilli. It was made by DH, who has been doing all the cooking while I have had my wrist in plaster. Plaster came off today so I hope to be back to normal soon.
Scampi chips and coleslaw and I have lashings of tartare sauce with it. Always share tea with daughters on a Thursday as SIL plays football and doesn't eat until afterwards. My turn to provide so will take it all over later when granddaughters are home from school. We'll wait for DD2 to get home from work and eat when granddaughters have had their bath and gone to bed. It's a nice space to have a big chat together and catch up. Last week I made a beef casserole and DD1 put dumplings with it when she reheated it.
well that was great reading through some of your good idea`s ,,for lunch ,breakfast and dinners ,i have filled my note book ,one thing if i may ask ,we never have pork because i cannot stand the smell of it cooking ! ,but i love roast pork from the deli counters ,and i used to love pork dripping on toast ,,(now banned as to many cals, very sad ),yet i love the smell of other meats and chicken cooking ,how strange is that ,thank you again for the great ides`s
As I am on my own, the meals I eat vary considerably depending on my mood. My favourite is scallops just eaten with bread and butter and mayonnaise! Sometimes I will have baked beans on toast, sometimes a 'proper' meal. Tonight I couldn't be bothered so microwaved a COOK chicken curry plus a pouch of rice!
Don't you all have lovely meals? DS likes very little that is not plain so mostly we have plain roast chicken breast, pork or beef steaks, sausages, occasional meat balls or fish pie all with mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli, green beans, peas and sweetcorn which are vegetables I have eventually got him to eat under duress. Today we had gammon steaks with a fried egg on top because he said he has gone off gammon!
He will not eat onion so I grate it into the occasional cottage pie or beef casserole so he doesn't know. He won't eat salad or pasta but will tolerate rice. I am so bored.
I bought a Tesco curry for two for tomorrow as sometimes I just can't be bothered!
Just washed up,after having tagliatelle, with mushroom, garlic, tuna and pepper sauce, with salad ..yum, it was unplanned, just thrown together with stuff from the fridge and storecupboard, but mostly I do have some idea what we have during the week.
Steak and roast butternut squash. I am at my daughter's and she has bought it as a treat. I haven't got the heart to say I don't really like steak, but I shall eat it with a smile on my face and tell her how delicious it is.
We’re on old favourites this week Roast Pork Sunday -cold on Monday, stew and dumplings yesterday and lamb loins with creamy mash, broccoli and cauliflower tonight. The rest of the week is fish. Ever since we discovered whole stuffed mackerel whilst on holiday we love them and the bloke only charges £1 each and will de head and bone them for free.
