Went to a little ones party recently, enjoyed mandarin oranges set in lemon jelly, oh my lord I am now hooked!! Verging on obsessed reallygrin so simple if full of sugar, too easy to wolf down in a cup watching tv, so what about you, have you any little delicacies, odd or not, that you can't resist?

Chip butties, has to be good soft white bread

Fruit cake or apple pie with Wensleydale cheese (it's a Yorkshire thinggrin)

Good dark chocolate, on its own or with chilli/lime/ginger

My homemade soup with crusty bread & Lurpak

My DD loved Ketchup butties

Crystalised ginger/ginger in dark chocolate

Thank you for bringing back memories of my lovely mum. We often had a tin of mandarin oranges set in jelly.

I might buy the sugar free jelly and do my own but no doubt sugar free won't be as nice! Mind you I remember years ago being on a diet and buying half a dozen of those low sugar or sugar free jellies, made one and still in cupboard 2 year's later! Couldn't have been that good?!

Mcem. No, you are not.

Can't bear jelly in any form. I find the texture really yucky and as a vegetarian don't want to eat anything made with gelatin anyway. Nuts and crisps on the other hand are totally addictive.

Alpro vanilla yoghurt - a whole (big) pot.

Wholemeal sandwiches with peanut butter, garlic purée and tomato purée.

I love rich tea biscuits with cheese and sliced cheddar in a tea cake, yum.

Theoddbird Wed 24-Jan-18 11:04:19

Homemade broccoli and cheese soup.....

So many of these delights I’d forgotten about! Cheese and onion sandwiches! Battenberg! Goldfish jelly! Yum!
For me thick white bread spread with butter and with any sort of pickles.
Pity I’m trying to lose those pounds I put on over Christmas. envy

onion bagels, with butter, cream cheese, smoked salmon and a sliced gherkin!

grannybuy Wed 24-Jan-18 10:54:52

Chocolate and more chocolate, particularly the more expensive ones. Love it dipped in my morning coffee. Also enjoy a handful of nuts and raisins, chunky marmalade on thick oatcakes, coconut or raspberry Magnums. . . I'm another who doesn't like the consistency of jelly.

bmteal Wed 24-Jan-18 10:45:42

Battenburg cake. ?

Dianic Wed 24-Jan-18 10:43:49

@Skweek1 - do you make nut butters too? And is it very labour-intensive?

KatyK Wed 24-Jan-18 10:43:20

Cheese & onion crisp sandwiches on white bread.

Dianic Wed 24-Jan-18 10:42:19

Banana and raspberry jam toasted sandwich...
Cheese and marmite on crumpets...
Bacon and mushroom baguettes...
Chips with gravy!

Gonna have to try some of the "weird" things mentioned before, but definitely NOT mashed potato sarnies - yuck!

I can see the appeal of raspberry curd with beef though! grin

Nannylovesshopping Wed 24-Jan-18 10:40:03

diggingdoris and belleringer sorry ladies, tangerine jelly no longer manufactured sad

Lynnebo Wed 24-Jan-18 10:39:36

Oh lordy, I've put on weight just reading all these lovely ideas - bar the marmite! grin
My self indulgence has to be a curry potnoodle with a strong cup of tea.

Margs Wed 24-Jan-18 10:32:31

A lovely long crusty French loaf stuffed with butter (hang the cholesterol!) and Marmite......bliss!

And I can scoff the whole thing in one sitting.

Skweek1 Wed 24-Jan-18 10:32:15

Won't eat gelatine, so either buy ready-made vegan jellies with fruit or make my own jelly with agar (expensive, but suits me). Since I don'r eat meat, I save a fortune - most weeks only buy seeds, nuts, herbal teas, fruit and veg. Make my own plant milks.and always have soya or coconut yoghurts or similar available in the fridge for dessert. Treat myself to a few vegan ready meals in the freezer and have a stock pot full of soup, so don't have to waste time on making a 2 or 3-course meal, depending on how hungry I am.

Kim19 Wed 24-Jan-18 10:24:31

My recent addiction is to an raspberry ice cream on a stick. This is a contradiction in so many terms that I'm having a serious word with myself. First of all I'm usually a very self controlled person and secondly I've hardly eaten an ice cream in the last 40 years. Just didn't care for the stuff. Maybe I'm having a ghost pregnancy fad?!!

threexnanny Wed 24-Jan-18 10:16:19

Love fruit in jelly and pancakes, but other than that it's chocolate with chocolate and maybe chocolate on top!

Sourcerer48 Wed 24-Jan-18 10:15:42

Adding plain yoghurt when making up the jelly, tastes so delish!
Bacon and banana on toast.
Extra fruity hot cross buns from Tesco, toasted with lashings of butter.

sarahellenwhitney Wed 24-Jan-18 10:10:27

Make my own pancakes, smothered in sugar and fresh lemon juice. I drool at the thought .

Belleringer Wed 24-Jan-18 10:09:24

Diggingdoris - I was just about to post the exact same message! We have always had mandarin oranges in tangerine jelly after Christmas lunch, but I haven't been able to find the jelly for a couple of years now.
