My lovely daughter and her partner have just found out that she is 24 weeks pregnant !

What a shock. I honestly never thought she would have children as she is almost 33 and only has occasional periods (none for almost a year).

I am feeling full to bursting.

How fabulous gilly, I can tell you are fit to burst!!

Don't worry about the lack of antenatal care. She'll be fine.

Keep us up to date! We all love a new baby!!

gillybob very many congratulations from me too. I had a new DGD two weeks ago, such exciting times flowerssmile.

gillybob Thu 18-Jan-18 13:14:50

I've just come off the phone after speaking to her on her lunch break at work where she has just told everyone her very surprising news. Apparently the place came to a standstill for a while as they all jumped up and down !

DH and I had a loft clear out just before Christmas and took all the baby stuff to a charity shop and the womens refuge!

My sons three children are so excited they are going to have a new cousin and have picked some very strange names for the poor little thing. The best one from DGS is Jermain Defoe ! Yikes confused

Congratulations, gillybob.
My daughter in law told my son on his 50th birthday. She was 38 and didn't think she was able to have children.
The result is a beautiful little boy, now four months old.
Hope your finances can take it!
I keep finding all these new toys and clothes that weren't around when his sister was born over 20 years ago.

Tippy22 Thu 18-Jan-18 13:01:28

Many, many congratulations. Such an exciting time for you all.

harrigran Thu 18-Jan-18 12:48:59

Oh wow, talk about a surprise. Many congratulations.
Think how delighted the baby's cousins will be.
I think I might have a panic attack, I have just given away all the baby stuff I kept here.

maryeliza54 Thu 18-Jan-18 12:36:45

24 weeks - well that’ll make the pregnancy shorter ?. Lovely news especially in the circumstances. Hope all goes well

mcem Thu 18-Jan-18 12:31:02

Congratulations! I was only 16 weeks when I found out our miracle baby was due to arrive 2 weeks before I turned 38.
I was told my very erratic cycles were due to the fact that some ovaries work intermittently and we just 'hit' one of the rare times I 'd ovulated normally!
That baby and his wife are now discussing starting a family very soon.
As an experienced gran you'll be in demand.
Wonderful news but a bit overwhelming!

annodomini Thu 18-Jan-18 12:29:16

Wow! Gillybob. What a wonderful surprise. I hope she will now have the best of care and be able to enjoy the rest of her pregnancy. I'm sure you will be keeping an eye on her!

Gillybob, that is such lovely news, but a bit of a shock. You and she will be very busy until the baby is born. I'm going out with a happy face now. ?

When you come down from the cloud you can start knitting!!

Marydoll Thu 18-Jan-18 12:24:47

What wonderful news Gillybob. I know just how you are feeling. We never thought DS and DIL would be able to have children and now we have our wee miracle. flowers

annsixty Thu 18-Jan-18 12:11:57

What thrilling news for you all, you must be so delighted.
Don't worry too much about lack of ante- natal care. I have known mother's who didn't disclose their pregnancy and the babies were fine, she will be well looked after from now on.
