I am fine during the day, it is occasionally at night- I do not smoke, never have and no longer am I in the company of smokers so I do not know what sets it off. I feel fine otherwise.

Worry not soop, you deserve a nice sit down with your feet up now. I'm in awe of your resolve, the 'pedal thing' I bought to help my knees gets used when our granddaughter is here, she loves it. . Your memory of being locked out gave me shivers, I have come very close more than once, not one, not two but three neighbours held keys for our last home as I had left my key indoors so many times.

Mr C has been manipulated and massaged to an inch of his life. He now promises he will seek early intervention rather than allow his neck issues to get out of hand - again. Was it very naughty of me to book him an appointment with a very well qualified and experienced sports injury specialist who believes in a very strong massage rather that the more gentle physio? For his own good I thought. I also thought charley would approve . He was quite pale when he told me he is going back in 10 days. At least he can now turn his head, a definite move in the right direction.

Was hoping to hear positive things about Ann's husband, will try to pop in later. Otherwise keep well everyone, hope all poorly people are very much better soon.

I'm logging off. Have done a strenuous twenty minute ride on the exercise bike. Talk about knackered! The delivery man passed the window with a parcel, he looked in and saw me struggling in a most unladylike fashion. I smiled sweetly. He and that was that. I had lost the will to live and as good as fell off the machine. I'm sweating profusely. Is that a good, or bad thing? Keep your opinions to yourself, please.

Care home visit in the morning. Back to catch up early afternoon.

corner I am not exactly sure where you live but I do not think that it is remotely near me which is just as well because my neck massage would be rather different from eg a physio's- you would possibly never hear or see Mr. C again!

Welcome Florence at least you will not catch any of the lurgies that we appear to have at present, from your visits to the kitchen. I woke up in the middle of the night coughing my head off- at least it does not happen every night but I am getting fed up because this all started mid December.

At least the evenings are getting lighter and it has been sunny all day today with a near heat wave of 7 C.

ann Oh dear! you are being sorely tested right now. I suppose all you can do is remain hopeful and patient. The hospital staff are under tremendous pressure but I feel confident that very soon your husband will be in the right ward and receiving the right treatment.
Whenever I visit the care home, I'm in awe of the few carers who do one of the most difficult jobs. Those residents with dementia outnumber those who can still think for themselves. I couldn't do the job the staff do without complaint. I fear that I would become a patient myself.
You are constantly in our thoughts.

Bellasnana your experience is the stuff of a very bad dream. the lock-out happened to me on one occasion. My handbag was lifted after I had left it in a telephone kiosk in Plymouth. My son was in a pushchair. I had no cash and no keys. A kind person gave me the cost of a phone call to a neighbour. Dear neighbour travelled some distance to pick baby and me (in floods of tears) and take us back home. The bathroom window was open at the top. the neighbour climbed a ladder, managed to lean in and open the large window and get into the house. He then unlocked the front door. The bag was discovered on the top deck of a bus. Cash had been removed. Keys were there but I had new ones cut. My husband at that time was serving in N. Ireland. The bag contained a month's housekeeping money. It was an amount we could ill afford to lose. Long story. One that hurt at the time.

All this security can be a right buggeration!!

Bella, glad you got that sorted quickly. DD2 went home from here yesterday via Sainsbury's to do a 'big' shop, arrived at their house and discovered that her DH had done the extra secure locking up (as she was away) that involves him taking the (only) secure locking up key with him. She settled down to wait for 45 mins until he arrived home whereupon her youngest announced from the back seat 'I need a poo, NOW'! Personally, I'm surprised that DSiL isn't in hospital.

Hope poorly people feel better soon. I'll be back later to see how things are with Ann.

Those of you who have found yourselves locked out should perhaps have a keysafe fitted outside your house as I have. You will have to remember a 4 digit code to access the safe but at least you will not be hanging around in the cold, biting wind. My eyesight is such that I cannot see the numbers but I can always ask one of my neighbours but it has never happened.

Ann I do hope that H's incontinence issues are improving. You must look after yourself and as others have said, visit daily and rest yourself in between.

Glad you managed to sort that one out, Bellasnana! I had something similar happen late last year when DD and I had a day out and on the way back I found I hadn’t brought a key to let us into the house. DH was doing the school run. I asked DD if she had her key and she replied rather sheepishly that she didn’t know where it was! Knowing her partner, who fortunately works close to where we live, also had a key, we phoned him and he came and let us in, otherwise we would have had a long cold wait until DH got back. If neither of us had had a phone we would have been properly scuppered.
Another quiet day at Chez Duster. Himself has the most God awful cold and, in time honoured male fashion, has taken himself off to bed. Wimp! It looks like I will be doing the school run myself this afternoon. Out in the car. On my own. By myself ?. Now whose the wimp?
Ann I hope there is better news on your DH today. Despite your early awakening, did you manage to get an unbroken night’s sleep? That always helps.
Hope your DiL is continuing to make progress, morethan. One day at a time.

Oh what a morning I’ve had and all my own stupid fault.

Decided I needed to go down to the garage to retrieve a suitcase so picked up the keys, plus the remote for the garage door. As soon as I had shut the front door, I realized I had picked up the wrong keys

Had nothing else with me, no phone, no coat and the wind is biting today. Decided panicking would not help so kept fairly calm. Tried a local garage to see if they had any ideas. They didn’t. Then walked to the police station where two officers went out of their way to help me. Managed to contact DD3 at the school where she teaches, and she came very quickly to let me in. Feeling very silly and wondering if I’ve lost the plot. I’m not usually so careless.

May I thaw out in here for a while please? All the stuff I had planned to get done this morning has now been put off until I’ve pulled myself together.

annsixty I worked in the NHS for many years and I have seen so much change in that time! Not all for the better.
If you have the name of your husbands consultant (does he have a cons yet?) if so, phone his secy and ask for an appt with him. My husband is a hospital consultant and sets aside a morning for relatives to see him but will also speak to them if he's on the ward and they are visiting.
I only knew of only one consultant who would never speak to family! If your son could come with you all the better. Sending good wishes to you

I’ve been trying to workout the timetable for watching the ice skating. I’ve looked on iPlayer, I’ve checked on google but I simply can’t work it out. Think I’m a bit dim. Oh well best get moving. We don’t have to take the children with us today and I believe it’s just a scan so hopefully just a short stay. I still haven’t heard anything from son no2 since his discharge from hospital. He’s either back at work or he’s locked himself away somewhere to brood.

Thanks anno we do have a scheme here called communicare, and H and I were volunteers for quite some time. At that time it was a free service, clients were asked for a voluntary contribution, it may have changed now. At the moment I get lifts apart from Tuesday when I couldn't wait to get there.
So shattered last night I was in bed at 8:45pm which is why I am fully awake now.

I prefer a dog that hibernates when the weather is foul....

Met a man walking a dear little Spaniel tonight on the bedtime walkie circuit. He is dogsitting and says she is a “12 miles a day” dog!
That would sort out my weight issues !
