Just joking
Here it is

Galen Thu 25-Jan-18 11:55:38

N and G
No, I just gotGary to dig a big hole in the lawn

As some of you know I’ve decided to sell my car. I hardly ever drive it. It’s only done about 7000 miles in 6-7 years.
I’m going to buy one of those road mobility scooters and an electric garage door instead.
If you see a grimfaced granny with goggles driving a scooter furiously at 8mph in your vicinity!- - -
You’ve been warned!

MawBroon Thu 25-Jan-18 11:11:05

HMRC giveth and the garage taketh away sad
Phone call from the garage to say brake discs(?) pads or something need replacing, also rear wiper (?) and two new front tyres.
My heart is sinking at what the bill (including a major /brake fluid change) service is going to amount to.
Fortunately a tax refund on Paw’s behalf on Monday will help, but there goes the new sofa I had hoped for sad
Ah well, sh*t happens

NonnaW Thu 25-Jan-18 09:45:57

Hi all, hope you are all well. Having just had my daily catch up of everyone’s news, I was fascinated by GD’s mention of a spirit level on the iPhone so had to have a look. I shared that with DH who thought it was great, but also said he would probably have forgotten it by the time he needs it again! I love that I learn so many new things through GN smile

MawBroon Thu 25-Jan-18 09:44:28

Oh joy
Expecting the car to be collected between 9 and 11 for its annual service I was in the shower at 8.30 when the doorbell rang.
I felt sorry for the poor driver who got a wet haired grumpy granny in a dressing gown muttering “They said 9 o clock” as his start to the day. blush
I am now “stuck in” for the rest of the day so there is NO EXCUSE to avoid all the indoor chores which have been building up and even attack the patio “slime” with something called Wet and Forget as an alternative to power washing it.
Or I could finish my book............(or even faff around on GN) shockshock
Have a lovely day everybody!

NanaandGrampy Thu 25-Jan-18 09:30:15

Morning all !!

Do you have any idea how much bread you go through with hungry builders and 2 roofers on site? Let me tell you its a minimum of 2 loaves a day!! I'm sending them a bill at the end LOL

I'm just kidding, its a small price to pay for their hard work out in dire weather and they have never been without a smile and a treat for Sam .

I would love a pond with frogs spawn Galen , do you do anything special to attract frogs or are you just lucky?

I think even good friends are exhausting when you are used to time on your own Corner. I love to chat but even I long for a little breath of silence. In the mornings I do not do well before my first coffee and even Grampy stays out of my way smile . Enjoy your breakfast out. I could do with that too as its so noisy and messy here !

I know what you mean about a long time to keep your mouth open Anno , I had a very high tech prep for my last root canal and it wasn't too long at all but did involve cameras and stuff in my mouth , so I'm in no hurry to repeat that experience !!

Thought I'd add a picture of Sam today - Santa brought him a photo prop set for Christmas ...this is his impression of Wyatt Twerp[laugh] .

annodomini Wed 24-Jan-18 23:51:48

Have I missed much by being off line today (buggeration with Chrome Book laptop)? I finally swore at the wretched thing and decided to adapt my oath as a password. And it worked - until the next time, I fear. My cold has miraculously eased just in time for a prolonged dentist appointment to prep a root canal. I think my young dentist does them for fun. an hour and a bit is a long time for me to keep my mouth wide open - the offending tooth is a wisdom.

cornergran Wed 24-Jan-18 23:30:32

Evening All. Crept in for a quiet sit by the fire. Phew, that’s better. I love our friends, so why do I find constant conversation so exhausting? Could be that extra glass of wine, n&g led me astray grin.

That’s a wise looking owl soop, another lovely image. Hope your trip went without incident and your friend will arrive on time for her surgery.

I’m planning to join the charra trip this time n&g, missed the grand opening when you moved, wouldn’t miss this one for the world. There’s definitely a different feel to solo visits to family I think, I also enjoy them. As Mr C is more useful when Littlest wants bridges built I suspect his absence is mourned there.

Think we are in competition for that ark, pelted this morning, nothing seemed to tempt folk out so it was a fairly competitive jigsaw morning. grin. Ventured out for a little while after lunch (minimal alcohol grin). Made up for the lack this evening, a good day.

We’ve a new bed due greyd, I’m so looking forward to it, we had replaced the mattress once so decided time for this one to move on and out. Sadly the choosing was up there with paint samples when it came to painfulness . Who knew buying a bed was so technical these days? Hope you sleep well and the germs depart.

Oh dear galen, hope tomorrow is a better and drier day.

Time I was asleep. The plan is for breakfast out tomorrow, yippee, love an easy start. Take care everyone.

Galen Wed 24-Jan-18 23:21:20

No oranges. But I’ve just noticed that my lime trees are producing limes outside at the moment!
This weather is daft. I’m looking at my pond every day for frogspawn

NanaandGrampy Wed 24-Jan-18 19:05:43

Now you say that Grey I am ashamed :-( you’re right , in the big picture of things I should count my blessings !

There will definitely be pictures of the completed orangery ( probably too many ?) .

Now , about that Charla and the mud wrestling ..........?

Greyduster Wed 24-Jan-18 18:52:30

A luxury spa hotel?? No such blooming luck, N&G! And no, I don’t think you are being mean to want to enjoy a bit of ‘just me’ time - I think we all need that now and then, although I know there are those who would give their eye teeth for anything but.
I hope there will be photos of your orangery; and I hope no-one has forgotten we are hiring a charra to go down for the official opening, chaps! (any excuse for a jolly!) ?. We’ll all wear gumboots for the garden (if sufficient alcoholic beverages are consumed, perhaps we could have mud wrestling!). Blimey! I think all these cold germs are making me delirious! Say goodnight to the people, Greyduster!

NanaandGrampy Wed 24-Jan-18 18:31:56

Sorry for my speedy departure !

He should be grateful he has you Grey! When you say sleeping elsewhere do you mean a luxury spa hotel .....or your spare room ??

Oh I do like ginger cake Winterwhite ! And ginger biscuits mmmmmmm . It’s very wet and windy here too and has been all day !

We’re nearing the end of the orangery construction , still a way off completition but very excited to see how it will look. We’re off down to visit the kids on Friday ( I was going on my own and was looking forward to it) but Grampy is now coming. Is it mean to be sorry he is ?

I’ll go and sit in the corner and do my time !

Greyduster Wed 24-Jan-18 17:08:54

No, arty farty, it was something pre-loaded called Extras and in it there, among other things, is a compass. If you tap on the compass and then swipe it to the left, it brings up a spirit level. Very useful for straightening pictures, which always seem to be on a tilt in our house - I think we’re sinking!

kittylester Wed 24-Jan-18 17:00:39

Or even intravenous Galen!

NanaandGrampy Wed 24-Jan-18 16:55:59

Evening all !!

Sorry to hear my plan didn't work Corner pour yourself another glass in commiseration wink

Ha ! Grannie do I recall you saying before Christmas that you thought you had lost a gift?? I am glad its turned up and that did make me chuckle !!

I'm amazed at how much you have lost Jane and although its painful , you haven't put it all back on and I'm sure you'll find the willpower with that wedding in the wings !!

Sounds like you're getting things done Maw , hope your throat clears up soon. I'm a bit like you in that I wont go to the dentist for any reason if I have a bad cough, cold or throat. I cant cope with that and having hands and instruments in my mouth too.

It has rained enough for us to draw up plans for an ark here. My poor garden is now a quagmire and beyond reasonable redemption sadly !!

ahhhhh dinner has arrived ( Grampy went to the chip shop !!) Back later !!

Charleygirl Wed 24-Jan-18 16:48:07

Galen it sounds as though you need a bottle with a straw- definitely not the best of days.

Artyfarty Wed 24-Jan-18 16:46:43

Greyduster How do you get a spirit level on your phone. Did you download an app?

Galen Wed 24-Jan-18 16:37:17

? my dishwasher won’t switch on!
All I need today, started with an early start for tribunals, taxi driver managed to drop all my files in a deep puddle.
The clerk came to the rescue by p’copying them from the master files.
Very difficult involved cases all day.
I need a drink!

winterwhite Wed 24-Jan-18 16:12:57

Very windy here and half a fence blown down, so I put my head round the kitchen door in search of coffee and cake (preferably ginger).
Many apologies, Soop, for not realising you were a person. I thought the letters were the coded title of something. Hope the flight got away on time and that your friend will soon have had the hip operation and be feeling pain free.

Greyduster Wed 24-Jan-18 15:41:15

Soop I am going to have to stop looking at your pictures! envy ?. I need to up my game considerably!
We have had a quiet day here - I got up with a cold and full of aches and pains, but I suspect the aches and pains are caused by our six year old mattress rather than any biological reason! I am going to sleep elsewhere tonight to test my theory. We are back on the paint sample trail, as DH wants to get the last of the bedrooms done before the Spring. Of course, he doesn’t like the one I chose and I think his is awful. Impasse. He has been putting up more shelves in the garage today and I have attempted to give him the benefit of my advice as usual. He was very rude. Then he asked me to hold a torch because it was quite dark in the corner where he was working and he couldn’t see the spirit level. Neither could I, torch notwithstanding, so I said “why don’t you use the spirit level on your iphone? There was a lot of humphing and mutters along the lines of “another one of your silly ideas” but when I fetched it, it worked beautifully ??. Jobs a good ‘un! I don’t know why he married me, do you?

soop Wed 24-Jan-18 15:29:44

Although the wind remains brisk, I'm keeping fingers crossed that the flight to Glasgow won't be scuppered. I'm away to prepare for collection of our friend. She will be in a bit of a tiz woz. Understandable, as this will be her first experience of major surgery.

All of you lot - please take good care of yourselves. Until tomorrow, smile moon

soop Wed 24-Jan-18 15:19:05

Gaga We purchased an inexpensive incinerator. It lasted for about twelve months, and then it fell apart thanks to rust. The air hereabouts, being close to the sea, is salty

Gagagran Wed 24-Jan-18 15:10:38

After our shredder burnt out through over use, we bought a cheap garden incinerator before we moved house and burned all the confidential waste papers we had amassed over many years.

We now use it for garden waste but could easily bring it back into use as an incinerator. It was only about £15 and I think they are still available around that price.

soop Wed 24-Jan-18 14:03:13

kitty Yay! grin
