Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen...

Hattie got to be (nearly) a police dog last night!
The presence of 2 police cars plus a breakdown truck at the corner of our street in our equally sleepy village as I took Hattie out for her bedtime walkie at 10.30 caused me to ask what was going on. It appeared a stolen car had been abandoned outside my neighbours house (looked neatly parked to me) and they were awaiting. SECOND breakdown truck . Why?
Anyway another neighbour having a quick peek out of the window apparently reported to his wife that there were police dogs on the scene !!!
Just Hattie.
I did however check all the doors and windows were locked before I went to bed and poor Hats only got a very short WELL LIT walk

Maw I keep saying she should come somewhere she will be well cared for!
Hattie would not make the best police dog because she likes to rest her eyes too much- she would have to work for a living and Hattie has forgotten that life, thankfully.

It is scary when one sees police close to one's own house. This happened to me a few years ago- the next door neighbour (rented house) went on holiday abroad leaving the dog indoors for somebody to feed it x2 a day. the dog escaped and there were around 2 police vans, cars and at least 12 policemen. Slight overkill. The dog was captured, taken to Battersea and bit his owner when she came to retrieve him. Dog put to sleep- best thing for it because it was rarely allowed outside, did its business in the house so you can imagine the state when the house was about to be rented.

I haven't visited the kitchen for a while but I've been keeping a close eye on the action.
I'm just on my way down South to stay with my sister for a few days. She had a hip replacement last Tuesday so I've been following your friend's progress soop . Sister was hoping to come home last Friday but she's had a few problems but today's the day. Like your friend, she lives on her own and despite insisting that she'd be fine on her own, I persuaded her to let me come and keep her company until the weekend.

We watched a lovely programme about Puffers on the Crinan canal last night. It brought back happy memories of our visit to Kintyre. Hope we can come back this summer and travel the full length of the canal right down to the sea.

Despite the dire weather forcast for today, we are nearly down to Gloucestershire now and not a sign of snow, thank goodness.

Oh I do like a cavalier Nanawind , we have one of our own , a tricolour called Sam . I love the story behind the Blenheim's though and we had several in the dim and distant past.

We are having car problems and replacement car problems and that is a buggeration ! Not least because the replacement is a manual which I have not driven for many years and I have my photography class booked tomorrow some 45 mins drive away.

I'm sure it will all work out.

Just a quick hello, for now. Our friend has had all her staples removed and can visit her dear husband in the care home tomorrow. I'm working on a wee painting for her. Now that I know tomorrow is a day for celebration, I wish to complete it and maybe find a suitable frame.

This morning's sky was beautiful...

Just like to tell everyone my MIL (88) had a bad fall last April and needed a hip replacement my god she is one brave lady was got up the next day after her op, was in hospital for 3 weeks in respite for 4 weeks then home we were not allowed to stay over as in her words it's only a bump. We go every day to do any jobs etc but as she is up at 6am she has done most of them. The only thing she can't do is hoover.
Forgot to mention she took no painkillers after 1 week as she says it bungs her up.

Soop you are so clever at painting. I wouldn't know where to start.

N&G I would be happy to drive you to your class tomorrow- the opposite with me, I do not know how an automatic works.

N&G we love cavaliers and miss ours. Sam look as though he's full of beans how old his he.
We've had blenhims and ruby's.

Take care driving a manual I'm sure you will get used to it until yours is fixed. ( I never drove an automatic)

Thanks Charley , I've just cancelled as my knee cant cope with the continuous work of a manual car . I'm a little bit gutted to be fair. Which is silly I know. But I so wanted to go and I've been really looking forward to it. I know in the big picture of things, worse things happen at sea but I do feel a bit 'poor me' at the moment !!

Sam is nearly 5 Nanawind , just at his best. he's a lovely chap, probably the best cavalier we've had . Just a gentle boy and the grandkids adore him ( and he them although that might be the constant food !!)

I would like a ruby , and we did talk about it but for now we'll just have Sam ( although after my hols I do have my eyes on a ragdoll cat!!). I wouldn't say I'm a cat person but ragdolls are near enough dogs so we shall see !!

We have fish for tea - not my favourite , so if you add that to my car troubles, cabin fever, my cancelled course and not a scrap of chocolate in the house I think you would all agree calling 999 to get some delivered is only right and fair !!!

Sending food parcels of chocolate N&G as you kept us supplied with them when all the roads were shut!! Shall I add some ? I also have a one person portion of beef stroganoff in the freezer. I was going to take it to DGS1 but he can have chicken nuggets instead. He likes grown up food so I take him a portion of anything we have that I think he might like. I'll send a packet of microwave rice too.

there are lots of hips being replaced round here. Hope everyone is doing well.

Ann, how lovely for your daughter (and you!) Can I ask, is he a friend with benefits? Having asked that, I'm now trying not to think of the speed with which my DD has got to the position she might be in. They had to tell us because a family holiday was being talked about for 4 weeks after the due date.

I mentioned DH going to get his hearing sorted - this could have happened if he had thought to take his (unworn) hearing aids with him! We now await another appointment! Bless!!

MacSporran has the growth removed from his bonce at Campbeltown hospital I've also been to see the GP and need to have another bloody colonoscopy. Like I need to go through that palaver yet again! kitty I haven't asked or been told about the benefits!!
But they have just been away for the weekend.
We have just had an "allday breakfast" tea, I am tired and generally fed up and couldnt be bothered to think about a meal.
I am ready, as we all are, for some warmer weather, I am in constant discomfort with my hip and lower back which is keeping me indoors which means I am with H all day everyday which means I get more frustrated... you get the picture.

Sorry for your further problems soop you do seem to have more than most in the way of health issues and you seem to smile through them all, unlike me who needs a new name moaning minnie

Evening All (with actions kitty). So far my tactic of removing myself from the building to go shoe shopping leaves me unpainted. Who knows about tomorrow . It’s smelly here that’s for sure and flipping freezing as apparently it is essential that the window remains open. To remove the smell you understand .

Those handsome dogs have reignited my dog envy nanawind, I’d love another one but Mr C is right, not practical just now. Sadly our family are resisting all my attempts to get them to add a four legged family member.

Right, as long as that is understood may I be allowed to share that I came in this evening from my Art History course (actually on Scandinavian Design this term) it was lovely and warm in our sitting room and as I drew the curtains the realisation that Paw will never come home to his chair in the sitting room just washed over me.
I could just “see”him resting his eyes as he used to with Gracie doing likewise at his feet and ...... oh dear

I’m so sorry you need another colonoscopy Soop but you are being looked after and you’ll be glad you had it.
I saw my little girls yesterday and the 5 year old wrote me a story which, with its Spring theme, is full of hope and I’m attaching it. I’m taking DG, who lives nearer to me, so see a vista of snowdrops similar to your photo Soop. I want him to see a softer side of life as he is so physical, acting out things he sees, Kung Fu Panda and things like that. So hopefully a snowdrop sortie with Granny will appeal to him.
Might have to attach story separately.

N&G, I was going to offer you a couple of Jaffa cakes but The Boy scoffed them as a reward for doing his homework without complaint after school, so we have both dipped out!! The trade off was that I had to play Mario Cart with him on the Wii afterwards. We had six races and I came last in every one. He said “well at least, you’re consistent, Nanny!” I love the photo of Jackson with his gingerbread Stig! It must have cheered him up no end! Certainly would have worked for me. You are an ace nana!

Soop that’s something I would not have wished on you. The things we have to put up with as we get older. I hope it all goes well for MacS tomorrow. I love your painting of the little dog. You have a way of bringing the eyes alive. When I paint eyes, they look as if they belong to something that’s been stuffed - human or animal!

Yes indeed, Corner, don’t starve the decorator whatever you do! Plenty of tea and chocolate hob nobs was the order of the day here. Just as well he’s finished, or he’d be like the side of a house by now!

Each time we have changed our car, I have hankered after an automatic but Himself favours manuals, which is strange because his gear changing leaves a lot to be desired - no finesse. He still thinks he is battering about the Falklands in an Army Land Rover before they put the roads in! Grab gear stick in stranglehold; ram into gear with all strength; slam foot down on accelerator and hang on for dear life! I am much kinder to our cars ?.

Well, that’s me for tonight, folks. A better night’s sleep than last would be very welcome. Fingers crossed!

Tomorrow I have a man coming to take a look at my gas fire, and hopefully get it working again. Thursday another man to look at my gas oven and hob, Then next Monday a lady to see us about a Lifeline. So I`m pretty much tied to the house this week with Tesco on Wednesday morning a well. Tesco are the only ones to give me a time, the others are "between 8am and 5pm". And they `ll probably come when I`m in the loo!

Isn’t the lack of exact-ish time a major pain callgirl? waited in a whole afternoon last week for BT, well OpenReach, didn’t come. It’s re-booked between 1 and 6 on Wednesday. We’ll see. Today a charity came to collect a bed, again a between 1 and 6 call. Can’t sit in silence and wait for 5 hours. I had a date with a shoe shop and Mr C with his paint roller. To be certain we didn’t miss the pickup there was a large notice stuck on the door with an instruction to ring the bell. Did they? Nope, just tapped on the glass. Having returned triumphant from the shoe shop I caught sight of a red fleece retreating down the path. Fortunately my scream was heard. . The two men then complained the mattress was heavy, well, it’s a mattress, they usually are. You just have to laugh.

Hopefully all gas appliances will be functioning by the end of the week callgirl, a real positive for you.

I should be asleep, head is resembling a washing machine, in fact our washing machine is quieter than my head. I’m just a hopeless case I fear.
