Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather
Never mind the rain
As long as we're together...
Woops we go again.
WELCOME. Make yourselves at home.
You can usually get a one week parking “season ticket” annsixty which is transferable so anybody in the family can use it.
Saves a bit!
Thank you all. I am waiting for my S now and my GD is meeting me there.
I live about 10 mins from the hospital thank goodness so it is no problem being dropped off and picked up again.
Yesterday it cost £12 for a taxi there and back and last evening £3:50 to park for a 10/15 min visit,.
It is not cheap being ill?
Dear ann I would echo what Cherrytree has said - accept any help that is offered as it is not just your problem, you are both part of a family and I'm sure they will not want to see you struggling.
I hope your DH is a little better today, thank goodness for kind staff like the HCA.
Ann just popped in to wish you and your DH well.
Quite an ordeal for both if you.
It is not just your problem.
Please take help from your family.
It is their Dad and Grandfather.
Your message suggests these people were kinder than you feared and I hope that has helped a little bit. Best wishes for your visit today x
Annsixty it may not seem like it as you are so stressed but I feel encouraged by what you say, especially about the male HCA. These are the people who truly make the difference (sorry doctors you are very clever but when a patent is waiting for a bedpan or commode, it’s the HCA who makes the difference) and my experience with Paw on various wards was that the sensitivity, respect and compassion they showed in his daily care was second to none. One girl (called Angel, was literally that!) I vaguely knew some of them as I used to be a secondary teacher locally and they, to me, embodied the best of MKH. Occasionally you met a grumpy one. I remember him ringing and ringing for the commode and I eventually found a girl who was a bit shirty saying she was busy. Well I responded, it will take a lot longer to clean him up if you don’t get to him in time. But mostly they were great, one girl pressed to have Paw moved to a single room as there was a lot of shouting and mouthng off by one poor man, she said “your husband is a gentleman and shouldn’t have to listen to such things”.
The bed chaos is probably beyond their control but I get the feeling he is in safe hands and you really CAN relax a bit. Is it a difficult journey to the hospital? Can you share the visiting with other family members? Visiting twice a day is exhausting. I used to go midday-ish to keep him company over lunch (and make sure he was eating) then just 30-45 minutes in the evening to tuck him up and see him settled for the night. That also enabled me to see the Night Team at handover and raise anything I needed with the nurse/HCA looking after him
I know this is a dreadful time, but you can breathe and relax a bit having some space to yourself
Ann I can only imagine how wearing it must be for you, and distressing to see your DH so poorly. Please look after yourself. I think *Anno is right - worth letting your GP know what you are going through at the moment. ??
I'm beginning to think that your H won't be the only one needing care if this situation continues. I'm so sorry you are in such pain and distress. Please, ann, do contact your GP who ought to know about your H but also about the effect it is having on you.
annesixty, I am so very sorry x
Oh annsixty it all sounds so utterly awful. The worry, the emotional impact and just the physical aspect of visiting no wonder your worn out and in pain. I hope that somthing is sorted soon.
Good morning all.
Don't know where to start . Yesterday I got a taxi to the hospital on my own, I decided it was my problem and I would deal with it. As soon as I made myself known ,a nurse I hadn't seen came up to me and said I understand you want to speak to someone.
She explained she would get his notes and come and speak to me and as soon as the nurse looking after my H came off her break she would also come.
I explained what I had been told on the phone and she listened, I explained he might not be their priority but he is mine, and the longer he is left like this his Alzheimer's will get worse.
She said the medics still saying he will be moved, but no answer as to when.
His nurse then came and said more or less the same.
A male orderly came across and took my hand and said, don't worry I am watching over him, he deserves respect and dignity his age. Had he not been getting it before?
He is in a lot of pain in his legs and knees and can hardly move. He is now doubly incontinent which distressed me but strangely enough not him, I don't think he realises.
His temperature keeps spiking and they gave him paracetamol while I was there. Also mention of IV ab's, he is on tablets at the moment.
I went back with my S last night but he asked us to go after 15 mins he was very tired and wanted to go to sleep.
I haven't rung yet this morning, I was shattered last night but up very early this morning, in awful pain in my back and hip.
I don't know how long I can keep up twice daily visits but really want to.
Old age is great when you are fit and able, I am seeing the other side now.
Glad your feeling better Maw sending hugs to you and AnnSixty I’ve not had time to read through the posts still on hospital visits and grandchildren minding, but send my best wishes to you both and the rest of you. I’ve just realised that it’s two years since my DiL diagnoses. It’s been horrible and completely changed my outlook on life. She’s still here though that’s the important thing, all praise to the NHS and her wonderful consultant and of course her determination. Take care all.
I have been thinking about her since yesterday too. X
Just popping to see if there was any news from AnnSixty.
corner hopefully you will have a good night's rest in the new bed. No doubt Mr.C will possibly not even notice that it is a different bed because I believe he sleeps through most things as do I unless Tara whimpers.
Maw glad to hear that you are feeling better, nothing like a cuddle on a sofa with that gorgeous girl.
Fennel with luck the weather forecast may change- it is quite a journey, good luck.
N&G not much of a rest in between guests but if their tums are full you are half way there.
soop when I was at school I went to the ice rink weekly but never mastered the art- I made sure that there was always something to cling on to. Lessons would have helped but money did not stretch that far. I find snow boarding frightening to watch but I am not 17 years old!
I quite fancy a red velvet cake for Valentine's Day - just for the kitcheners, of course.
My kind of place then.
just give me your orders and i'll bake them.
and anyone can make beautiful cakes in it.
No-one ever has to clean it either, it cleans itself miraculously
Well, since its an imaginary aga, I suppose I could do some imaginary baking in it.
I can't bake, ordinarily.
Evening all!!
We survived the shopping trip ( although my purse is substantially lighter) !!
It’s changeover day tomorrow , with Miss Laura going home and picking up the 3 boys ! Our Valentine’s Day dinner will see the table set for 5 !
The menu will include chicken, chippies with ketchup and a glass of fizzy orange! Talk about spoilt lol!
Welcome Missadventure , will you be in charge of the aga then? They always look so impressive! Can you bake cake in it ? ?
Love the sound of your friends little fox Corner , hope all goes well !!
Would going to bed at 7pm be too early? I’m pooped !
The forecast here for tomorrow is high wind and heavy rain - and the removals lorry is coming
If we survive this we can survive anything.
soop as long as it's snowboarding and not waterboarding - sorry I'm just in that mood.
corner What a brilliant idea. Whilst I'm practising the double toe loop, I may take snow boarding lessons.
